Class Description:
Ikebana is a traditional Japanese floral art. In the first part of the workshop, you will learn the traditional forms of ikebana, kakeiho. In the second part, you will make your own artistic creation, express yourself using botanical materials. In each class, instructor Ping Wei will first do a short introduction with demonstrations. Then, you will create your own ikebana. After everyone finishes, he will conduct a critical assessment.

Instructor Biography:
Ping Wei has been studying Sogetsu Ikebana since 2003. He's a member of Sogetsu Teacher's Association from Japan and holds the teacher's title of First Grade Jonin Somu. In the past years, he demonstrated or exhibited ikebana at Phoenix Art Museum, Scottsdale Center for the Arts, Tucson Museum of Art, Ikebana International Colorado Springs, Ikebana International Sun City, Desert Botanic Garden, Japanese Friendship Garden of Phoenix, Japanese Matsuri Festival, Yume Japanese Gardens of Tucson, and Maricopa Country Libraries.
