Rooted: Community Celebration & Fundraiser

Join us at Rooted - an annual fundraiser for LA Más in celebration of the care and collective work in our Northeast LA community. We’ll be honoring teams that have invested deeply and nurtured tenderly the foundations of our solidarity ecosystem where we live and work cooperatively. We invite you to join us in supporting a growing movement towards a regenerative Northeast LA that transforms our relationship to land, labor, and care.


What to expect..

  • Family-friendly fall night outdoors at the Audubon Center (kids are free!)

  • Tasty pozole flight (4 ways!) & refreshments by local NELA vendors

  • Live cumbia music by Colombian musician Eduardo Palo Cuero

  • Silent auction of local food, experiences and art

2023 Rooted Awards

Moss Award: Moss supports the development of new ecosystems by stabilizing the soil, retaining water and helping new plants grow. Office of Councilmember Eunissess Hernandez: We honor our government allies who have helped us bring in resources that allow us to gather and grow together.
Mycelium Award: A network of fungal threads that support ecosystems by creating systems of communication that spread nutrients and help plants thrive. El Sereno Community Land Trust: We honor this organization as stewards of housing that strengthen our connection to land in Northeast LA and support residents threatened by displacement by strengthening the housing ecosystem
Milpa Award: This ancient indigenous technique weaves together three foundational foods: corn, beans and squash, to offer full and balanced sustenance. NELA Food Justice Collaborative: We honor this collective of 7 grassroots groups that have been gathering monthly for the last year to uplift cultural practices and cooperative ways of working around food.

Help us meet our goal!

Raíces: Celebración Comunitaria Y Recaudación de Fondos

Únase a nosotros en Raíces, una recaudación de fondos anual para LA Más en celebración del cuidado y el trabajo colectivo en nuestra comunidad del noreste de Los Ángeles. Honraremos a los equipos que han invertido profundamente y nutrido con ternura los cimientos de nuestro ecosistema solidario donde vivimos y trabajamos cooperativamente. Lo invitamos a unirse a nosotros para apoyar un movimiento creciente hacia un noreste de Los Ángeles regenerativo que transforma nuestra relación con la tierra, el trabajo y el cuidado.


Que esperar…

  • Noche de otoño familiar al aire libre en el Audubon Center (¡los niños entran gratis!)

  • Sabroso vuelo de pozole (¡de 4 maneras!) y bebidas de vendedores locales de NELA

  • Cumbia en vivo del músico colombiano Eduardo Palo Cuero

  • Subasta silenciosa de comida, experiencias y arte

Reconocimientos Raíces 2023

Honor Musgo: El musgo apoya el desarrollo de nuevos ecosistemas estabilizando el suelo, reteniendo agua y ayudando a que crezcan nuevas plantas. Oficina de la Concejal Eunisses Hernandez: Honramos a nuestros aliados gubernamentales que han ayudado a construir coaliciones y elevar a la comunidad para permitir reunirnos y crecer juntos
Honor Micelio: Una red de hilos de hongos que sustentan los ecosistemas mediante la creación de sistemas de comunicación que distribuyen nutrientes y ayudan a las plantas a prosperar. El Sereno Fideicomiso de Tierras Comunitarias: Honramos a esta organización como administradores de vivienda que fortalecen nuestra conexión con la tierra en el noreste de Los Ángeles y apoya a los residentes amenazados por el desplazamiento fortaleciendo el ecosistema de vivienda.
Honor Milpa: Esta antigua técnica indigena entrelaza tres alimentos fundamentales: maíz, frijol y calabaza, para ofrecer un sustento completo y equilibrado. Colaborativa de Justicia Alimentaria de NELA: Honramos a este colectivo de 7 grupos de base que se han estado reuniendo mensualmente durante el último año para mejorar las prácticas culturales y las formas cooperativas de trabajar enfocándose en los alimentos.
