If you have never had a real pumpkin soup, you are in for a treat! You will be amazed at how easy this recipe is, even when you start with a whole fresh pumpkin. And that is the secret of this delicious soup!
This pumpkin soup recipe starts with a fresh heirloom pumpkin, often nicknamed the Cinderella Pumpkin. These heirloom pumpkins are not hard to find, and chances are your local grocery store has a wide selection to choose from.
In this newsletter, I also talk about fall recipes and a fantastic giveaway from US Wellness Meats.

Thank you for Being a Sweet Friend

We received a lot of rain this week in Central Texas. Our Texas soil is getting a good soaking, and hopefully, the water levels of our thirsty lakes will significantly rise with the next few big rainstorms.
With the stormy and cooler weather outside, I enjoy making more recipes on the stovetop and oven since the heat from my appliances warms up my kitchen, making it even cozier.
In addition to baking, I also enjoy making bone broth, letting it warm slowly on my stovetop or in a slow cooker. (Yes. You can make bone broth in an Instant Pot. However, you have to add enough bones with cartilage or chicken feet to create a gelatinous bone broth.)
Given the various ways we can make beef bone broth, I like to warm the bone broth ingredients on my cooktop slowly. I enjoy the relaxed process and seeing my broth bubble slowly over time in my traditional foods kitchen. Hours later, I'll strain and decant my broth, saving it in my refrigerator to use in later recipes or as a sipping broth on a chilly winter morning with our oatmeal.

US Wellness Meats Discount and Giveaway
I've shared with you in the past that I like to get my beef bones from US Wellness Meats. They have an excellent selection of meaty and cartilage-rich beef bones, from oxtails to patellas. (Be sure to watch my Best Bones for Making Beef Bone Broth video.)
The folks at US Wellness Meats were one of the first companies that offered my sweet friends a generous discount on their products. (You can get 15% off regular-priced items on your order!) I ordered some beef bones from them recently, and they still pack their products as well as they did in my earlier US Wellness Meats Unboxing video.
I'm excited to let you know US Wellness Meats is having a giveaway for a $150 Gift Certificate for their products and a signed copy of my new bestselling book, The Modern Pioneer Cookbook.
|
|
You can use their gift certificate to purchase real food from their store, from plump poultry to delicious stakes and, of course, beef bones. (If you get some marrow bones, I show you how to make roasted marrow bones in my cookbook for an incredible nutrient-dense treat!)
As you enjoy the cool breezes of autumn and the sound of rustling leaves, I hope you can take some time to make the recipes you love in your traditional foods kitchen! 😊
