November News and Events

Happy Native American Heritage Month!

BAAITS continues to grow as an organization, harvesting the seeds that have been planted throughout its 24-year story. In October, the BAAITS Board convened to reflect and engage in a strategic-planning process for the organization; please stay tuned for highlights in the coming months.

We are also delighted to announce our new and updated resource list for and by community members!  We would like to thank our BAAITS Summer Intern, Syd Gavela, and our amazing volunteer web designer, Brodie Gullic, for all their support in making this great resource available to our broader communities.

Lastly, please share the 13th Annual BAAITS Two-Spirit Powwow Press Release widely (linked at the bottom of this newsletter) with your media contacts.  Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you at one of our upcoming November events!

BAAITS Two-Spirit Youth Contingent

Saturday, November 4: Indigenous Youth Tule Canoe Build with Alliance for Felix Cove: BAAITS Two Spirit-IndigeQueer Contingent*

Registration will prioritize Indigequeer Youth (10-30) & their guardians

*Please note: This event will not be advertised via social media,
and we ask you not to share the invitation.

BAAITS invites IndigeQueer Youth to join our contingent for a day-long event in Tomales Bay. Led by Redbird Willie, our friends at Alliance for Felix Cove have invited our organization to collaborate in this important community work and learn more about Tule and its role in these lands. This community-knowledge share invites IndigeQueer Youth (ages 10-30 yrs old) and their guardians/guests to join our contingent. This is a private invitation for current BAAITS community only; please do not forward this invite, or publish/post on social media. Everyone  must register for more details. Please bring tobacco offerings/medicine gifts for our teacher and the host organizer from Alliance 4 Felix Cove.

DONATE to Support BAAITS
Bay Area American Indian Two-Spirits (BAAITS) is an all-volunteer organization that exists to restore and recover the role of Two-Spirit people within the American Indian/First Nations community by creating a forum for the spiritual, cultural and artistic expression of Two-Spirit people. To that end, BAAITS is committed to offering culturally relevant activities for LGBTQ+ individuals of Native American ancestry and their families and friends.
