Awards
Principal's Staff Awards
After in-person ceremonies were postponed by the pandemic, five years of Principal's Staff Award winners were finally able to gather to be recognized on Oct. 24.
Categories recognize service excellence, community engagement, creativity and innovation, advancing diversity, equity and inclusion, sustainability, leadership and enhancing the UTM experience.
Human Resources Director Nader Boutros said they received more than 170 pages of nominations this year, and the choice was difficult.
"Every nomination tells a story of a wonderful individual or group doing something positive, it's heartfelt and heart-warming and tells a great story of UTM," said Boutros. "We have amazing people who wake up every day to not just work a 9-5 but who really want to make this a better place."
Winners were nominated by their peers, who wrote letters and collected supporting testimonials.
"You keep us motivated," said Boutros. "Getting to read the submissions, and learning more about you and all you do, it's very inspiring."
CAO Deborah Brown praised the winners for persevering through a particularly challenging stage of UTM's history.
"It's noteworthy that some of the individuals and teams are being awarded for work that was done during the pandemic and that added a certain degree of complexity, during a time of very much uncertainty," said Brown. "So not only did you deliver your work, you also went over and above than that is just incredible."
A full list of winners and their profiles, from 2019-2023, is available here.
