For decades the North American Interfaith Network has worked to lay the foundations of trust and to bridge the misunderstandings between faiths and belief systems. Sadly, we are now mourning together — carrying our sorrow over those very bridges.
In our mourning over the brutality we’ve witnessed, the lives terrorized and lost, we must not let fear rule the day. We share our sorrows and we recommit to each other. Fear, distrust, revenge, animosity: these destroy families, cities, nations, futures, and our traditions. Compassion builds and rebuilds again.
Let us renew our commitments to each other and to finding compassion. Given the troubling news in the Middle East, which really cannot be fully expressed in words, the people of NAIN are committed more than ever to building bridges of communications among people of various faiths and belief systems. We hear the pain and suffering. We pray and work for hope, peace, justice, and compassion.
