Kia ora <<First Name>>

It's hard to believe we're approaching the end of October already (although we reckon 2023 feels like it's been a year and a half already).

It has been an absolute pleasure reviewing applications for NPKR funding over the past year – what a wonderful insight into the diverse and inspiring work led by BioHeritage's emerging leaders. An huge mihi to everyone who applied for your impressive work.

While our grants have come to an end, we have some budget set aside to continue supporting early careers, for example, to attend Crazy & Ambitious 4 in April next year. If this is something you are interested in, please let us know (see below) so that we can secure funding for you.

We appreciate there's a great deal of uncertainty about what will happen after the National Science Challenges end in June next year, particularly for those currently contracted to the Challenge. We really encourage you to get in touch if you have any concerns, in case we can offer useful connects or additional support.

Is there anything you need over the coming months to help with your mahi? As ever, please don't hesitate to get in touch with us for a chat or to ask for some extra support.

Ngā Pī Ka Rere grant success

Over the coming months, the BioHeritage comms team will be highlighting several early career people who were awarded NPKR grants.

One of these is Josie Mainwaring, who attended the 10th FEMS Congress of European Microbiologists in Hamburg, Germany in July.

Read about Josie's work and her reflections on the conference.
