2023 - 2024 Regional Grants Pre-Application closes November 19

In alignment with the organization’s mission to promote the Eastern Oregon visitor experience and to enhance and preserve the region’s quality of life and economy, the grant program’s key initiatives are to:

  • Drive visitation from Eastern Oregon’s key domestic and international markets
  • Develop destination-based products that are in concert with the Eastern Oregon’s natural environment, support the stewardship of the state’s resources and its rich history. 
  • Tie into or enhance one of EOVA’s marketing and development pillars of Outdoor Recreation, Culture & Heritage, or Culinary & Agritourism.
  • Provide strategic industry professional development and training opportunities. 

Entity eligibility includes those listed below that are doing business in Eastern Oregon. Priority will be given to businesses based in Eastern Oregon. Entities must demonstrate direct work in support of improving the economic impacts of Eastern Oregon’s travel and tourism industry.

Oregon Dark Sky Tourism Learning Community Meeting
Nov. 30 from 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m. on Zoom

Building on the momentum of dark sky visitor experience development efforts across the state, Travel Oregon is kicking off a Dark Sky Tourism Learning Community to facilitate education and foster alignment across the tourism industry and key stakeholders. The Learning Community is open to anyone interested in preserving Oregon’s dark skies, developing and promoting dark sky visitor experiences, and staying connected with dark sky initiatives and stakeholders across the state. Travel Oregon is committed to convening the Dark Sky Learning Community 3-4 times per year.

The 2024 NORC website is live! Check it out. They are working to make the 2024 NORC experience the best experience for attendees, speakers, sponsors, and exhibitors. Make sure your lodging property is included in the 2024-2025 Travel Oregon Visitor Guide!
Listing submission due to ORLA by December 8

Printed annually, the Travel Oregon Visitor Guide is the only statewide print piece for comprehensive lodging listings.

WHO? Any transient lodging property in Oregon that pays the statewide 1.5% lodging tax is eligible for a free basic listing in the printed guide as well as a listing on traveloregon.com.

Properties are required to update/verify their existing listing or submit a new lodging listing to ORLA by Dec. 8, 2023 for inclusion in the guide.

Participation in the program also provides businesses and their staff with exclusive access to marketing programs, topical and technical trainings, and networking opportunities at no cost or at subsidized rates.

Nominations open for the Travel and Tourism Industry Achievement Awards
Nomination Deadline: 5pm on Nov 30

Spanning 6 categories, these annual awards recognize people and organizations across the state that go the extra mile to enhance the travel and tourism industry in Oregon. They are based on work completed in the 2023 calendar year.

Nomination Deadline: Jan 18th, 2024

 
The Oregon Heritage Excellence Awards recognize individuals, organizations and projects for outstanding efforts on behalf of Oregon heritage, drawing public attention to these efforts, and raising the quality of heritage‐oriented activities. Awards will be presented during the 2024 Oregon Heritage Conference April 17-20 in Forest Grove.

A rural community builder (RCB) is someone who cares about their community and takes action to make it better. Their community could be the whole city, a neighborhood, an interest, or a park. Help celebrate and acknowledge their hard work and grit with a kind nomination and free swag.
