Come get your Honors Seminars!

Honors students keep track of multiple registration dates: seminar registration happens on a different, specific date so that all Honors students have equal access to register for them. The Spring '24 list is available now - check to see what options pique your interest and will fit into your schedule. Registration for Spring '24 seminars opens exactly at noon on Wednesday, November 15 via AccessPlus. Registration numbers will be posted to the sites below a day or so before registration opens:

Do you have plans for next summer? Would you like to travel to another university to do research and be paid $6,000+ for 8-10 weeks (travel and housing are covered as well)? Then join one of the info sessions about summer Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) programs on Tuesday, November 7th from, 4 to 5 p.m. in 1118 Student Innovation Center, Thursday, November 9th, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. or Friday, November 10thth, from 2:00 to 3:00 pm in Launch Pad, Student Innovation Center (4th floor). These sessions will be run by undergraduate research ambassadors who have participated in these programs. Please come and learn from students with first-hand experience and learn how to prepare and apply for these opportunities.

The Fall '23 poster presentation is scheduled for Wednesday, December 6 from 3:00-5:00pm in the Memorial Union. Presenting your work? Tell your mentors, faculty, family, friends, research associates, neighbors to save the date now! Wondering what in the world an Honors project looks like? Save the date and plan to stop in to browse and have some snacks.

University Honors Program Grants
Fall applications due: Nov 10
Up to $750 in funding to help cover project expenses for Honors capstone projects.
 
Stewart Research Awards
Fall applications due: Nov 10
Up to $750 in funding to help cover project expenses for Honors capstone and other research projects. Preference given to research that is likely to result in a student-authored or coauthored publication.
 
Chi-Wai Ho Principles of Community Awards
Fall applications due: Nov 10
Funds to support research or activities that promote understanding and mutual respect among people of different races, backgrounds, and experiences. Projects should advance one or more of the ISU Principles of Community and focus on creating a welcoming environment for all individuals working and learning at Iowa State.
 
Honors Student Enrichment Grants
Accepted on a rolling basis, funds permitting
Up to $300 in funding to help cover expenses related to conference travel and/or registration fees. Preference given to students presenting at academic and professional meetings.
Attention first-year students: Caroline Cinatl (president) and Morgan Simms (social chair) would like to make you aware of the Alpha Lambda Delta honor society, which recognizes students with a 3.5+ GPA and is one that you can join as early as next semester with a qualifying GPA. Watch your email for initiation invitations next semester, and a potential service dog activity in Jischke this prep/finals week in December. Reach out to Caroline or Morgan if you have questions!
