Specific Bank Holidays: Directed Rota
We have been working with the Regional team to ensure equitable access to pharmacies for patients and a fair approach to allocating Bank Holiday opening across the county.
Following discussions with both the LPC and ICB a directed rota is now in place across Lincolnshire.
There are a number of reasons for this implementation, initially it is to ensure that pharmacy provision is available to patients on all bank holidays.
A rota will also provide assurance for the ICB and LPC that provision of pharmacy services will be available on these days.
The changing landscape in pharmacy and no guarantees of any contractor opening has led to the need to direct. This eliminates clinical risk and enables contractors, the ICB and patents to plan ahead of time. As coverage is needed across the entire county, it is likely that in areas where there are fewer pharmacies contractors will be directed more frequently than those where there are several pharmacies. The areas requiring cover has been reduced to the lowest possible level to ensure reasonable access for patients on Bank Holidays..
The regional team have tried to ensure the rota is fair and equitable for all that are involved and encourage discussion should there are any concerns in relation to the rota by emailing the pharmacy team on england.eastmidspharmacy@nhs.net
Those on the directed rota will attract a payment.

Lincolnshire Domestic Abuse Specialist Service (LDASS): Recruiting Domestic Abuse Champions
The primary role of the domestic abuse champions is to raise awareness about domestic abuse within their own community/group or setting and spot signs of domestic abuse and signpost people to get the help they need. They effectively serve as a conduit between victims and specialist support services.
LDASS believe that pharmacy staff are in an excellent position to take on this role to identify and signpost patients that come to see them to LDASS for support.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer domestic abuse champion for LDASS please find out more here.
