Wotagei? More like wota-slay~
Do you find yourself breaking into a Fortnite dance in the shower, kitchen, or even in your dreams? Come show us your moves at UBCAni's latest weekly! We won't be doing Fortnite dances, but Marko will be showing us wotagei (ヲタ芸) : an active and engaging way to enjoy your favourite otaku music! Join us as we cheer, clap, and dance our way through the basics of wotagei in our hands-on workshop. Broken up into 3 x 30min segments so drop in anytime!
Wotagei is a dance/cheering art originating in Japan, specifically from its idol scene. Nowadays it has evolved to encompass a wide variety of otaku media and music genres such as J-POP, Vocaloid, Anisong, and more! (Shoutout to Marko for this amazing explanation) You're all in for a treat this week because Naomi and Poff will also be leading ANOTHER dance!!! Can you guess which one?
