DUT ENTREPRENEUR SCOOPS SECOND PRIZE AT THE 2023 ALLIANCE OF GUANGZHOU INTERNATIONAL SISTER-CITY UNIVERSITIES (GISU) URBAN INNOVATION AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP FINAL COMPETITION IN ITALY
A Durban University of Technology (DUT) entrepreneur, Dr Olusegun Ayodeji Olagunju, who co-owns a spin-off company called Zah Biofuels, was announced as the second prize winner in the 2023 Alliance of Guangzhou International Sister-City Universities (GISU) Urban Innovation and Entrepreneurship Final Competition, which was recently held in Padova, Italy.
The theme of the annual competition was “Promoting Sustainable Urban Development with Scientific and Technological Innovation, focusing on Science Entrepreneurship.”
ASSURING THE INTEGRITY OF ASSESSMENT PRACTICES PROJECT LAUNCH
The Centre for Quality Promotion and Assurance at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) hosted the Assuring the Integrity of Assessment Practices Project Launch at the Coastlands Musgrave Hotel on Monday, 13 November 2023.
Giving the welcome and introduction address to the much-anticipated ‘Big Rocks’ project was the Interim Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Teaching and Learning, Dr Azwitevhelwi Nevhutalu. He explained that one of the key parameters to be acknowledged is the curriculum and what is being taught and assessed to produce innovative, creative, entrepreneurial, adaptive graduates. He emphasised that the students must go out and transform society.
STUDENT LEADERS HONOURED AT THE VUNA LEADERSHIP ACADEMY AWARDS
The Student Governance and Development Unit at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) hosted the Vuna Leadership Academy Awards to honour student leaders at the Mansfield Hall in Ritson campus on Thursday, 09 November 2023.

NURTURING FUTURE-READY ACCOUNTANTS: A GLIMPSE INTO THE DUT FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING DEPARTMENT
The Department of Financial Accounting hosted an Entrepreneurship and Project-Based Learning Seminar from 1 November 2023 to 2 November 2023 at the Coastlands Hotel and Conference Centre.
The event focused on the outstanding projects undertaken by DUT Advanced Diploma students in the module Financial Reporting 4. Students who displayed exceptional potential were invited to participate. These projects showcased the students’ innovative solutions to financial issues in organisations.
