Join Falynn Shaw as she hosts the new Living Out Stories series for the LGBTQ+ and straight communities alike. Be a part of these much-needed conversations in the Niagara Region. All are welcome! This December, we welcome Saidat, an award-winning motivational speaker, artistic director and children's entertainer who travels school to school to inspire, motivate and empower the youth of Canada.

Saidat is an award-winning motivational speaker, artistic director and children's entertainer who travels school to school to inspire, motivate and empower the youth of Canada. She has been credited as the first black Canadian female children's entertainer. The Saidat Show brings high-energy presentations and workshops from students from JK to Grade 12. The shows address serious topics with a smile and encouragement, tackling equity, inclusion, and social responsibility and helping youth boost self-esteem and better understand how to handle everyday life.

Winter Break @ the Museum!

Brrrr…. Join us this winter break for a craft and some tasty science! Craft your very own snow globe and shake up some homemade ice cream to enjoy with all the toppings! Explore the Museum galleries and complete a special winter-themed scavenger hunt. Finish your afternoon off with a movie – Disney’s Elemental.

The workshop is geared towards kids four and up, but all ages are welcome to attend. All children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult (adults do not require a ticket). Pre-registration is required.

The artifact collections of the Niagara Falls Museums illustrate times of balance and times of imbalance for humans. These objects help us to think of our place on Earth as just one of many species and the impact that we have. Forging a new way together using Traditional Ecological Knowledge and Science, we can create a hopeful vision for a sustainable future.

Drop by the Museum every Thursday evening for Date Night. The Museum is FREE from 5-9 pm, with local craft beer and wine available for purchase. Impress your date with some fancy-pants artifacts, and don’t forget to blabber on about local history. Or maybe not…

Samuel Zimmerman, "Founder" of the City of Niagara Falls

"Samuel Zimmerman, the man considered to be the "founder" of the City of Niagara Falls, was born on March 17, 1815 in Huntington County, Pennsylvania. Very little is known of his life before he immigrated to Canada in 1842, where he soon became a very prominent citizen. He was a shrewd businessman who quickly made a fortune in construction work. His first undertaking was the construction of four locks and an aqueduct on the Welland Canal. After that, he received a contract to build 129 miles of railway track for the Great Western Railway, thereby extending its lines to the Niagara River. Zimmerman was also instrumental in the construction of the second Suspension Bridge over the Whirlpool Rapids, in 1854-1855." ...
