R#36 | The Gift of Reading
|
|
Dear CustOMER,
I have a complicated relationship with consumption … which is paradoxical for someone who started a retail business that survives by selling stuff. But, when you think about it, you'll appreciate that REMO has always been about special things of high quality purchased ONCE, not disposability and landfill. That's why one of our slogans when we opened in 1988 was "Buy it once and own it forever", and why we attached the Arthur Stace "Eternity" message to our brand almost from Day One.
And that's why our famously iconic Stripey Things last for such a long time, and indeed too long according to our accountant.
Similarly, gift giving at REMO is all about being thoughtful, e.g. ordering him or her just the right DESIGN(S) and ideas printed on just the right THINGS, being particular.
Also, on the gift giving front, you can't go wrong with something a bit special that is consumable: food, drink or … (drum roll) just the right BOOK.
REMORANDOM is the perfect gift. So far readers have had only nice things to say, and 5 stars to give. Browse those testimonials HERE. You'll recognise some of the names.
The thing about RR is that, for the young, it's the ideal gateway drug on the path to becoming a full blown reader ("TikTok in print" as one of our reviewers has described); and, for the old who are reading less and less according to this article in today's Sydney Morning Herald, it's a great way to get them back on the horse.
Cheers,

FEATURED STORY
Lawn Chair Larry
|
|
Larry Walters had long dreamt of flying. On 2 July 1982 Larry’s dream came true when he sat (unrestrained) on an aluminium lawn chair connected to a cluster of 42 helium-filled weather balloons, took off from the backyard of a house in California, and rapidly ascended to an altitude of 16,000 feet (4,900 metres).

In 1958 the Rocket Chemical Company of San Diego, California succeeded in its 40th attempt to come up with a product that would prevent rust and corrosion on aircraft. The name “WD-40” stands for water displacement, formula 40. Its first application came as a coating for the Atlas missiles made by Convair in the 1950s, and credit for the invention goes to Norm Larsen, the founder of Rocket Chemical Company.

FEATURED STORY
Lorem Ipsum
|
|
“Lorem ipsum” is the name given to placeholder text used in the printing and typesetting industry. Versions of the Lorem ipsum text have been used in typesetting at least since the 1960s, when it was popularised by advertisements for Letraset transfer sheets (old enough to remember those?); and Lorem ipsum was introduced to the digital world in the mid-1980s, when Aldus employed it in graphic and word-processing templates for its desktop publishing program PageMaker.
