🎃 post-halloween blues 🍬

is anyone else dealing with an emotional sugar crash? post halloween, end of year visibly bright, war raging on, unsettled nervous system... this week i have no guest just me.
one week ago i took my 2.5 year old into the hospital for a surgery, which left me completely focused on staying strong, calm and present for him. recovery has been quiet and full of gentle reflection. you'll i see a suggestion below for a movement practice that was recommended to me by my friend kristina (she makes quilt commissions fyi, i can connect you). i highly suggest taking 10 minutes out of your day for it. been making a lot of homemade applesauce, always pancakes saturday morning, and my daily bread practice (recipe in my cookbook which i will self publish one of these days for you all)
i finished my last evenbrite session last week, started workshops with my new mind blowing cohort through SPP, and making care packages for friends near and far going through it. other than that i'm coveting new music (i had NO idea she was dan akroyd's daughter!), watching this fool nightly, researching a new season of classes/courses, and plotting something exciting for my dear readers that will be revealed next "episode."

while this week is poor in introducing you to an amazing talented friend, its rich in hyper links and succinct suggestions. tell me anything, would love to hear from you.

death scent

perfumer nuri mcbride's death scent is a passion project exploring the role of scent in burial practices around the world.  Starting in 2016, the site examines the cultural importance of olfaction and rituals, the materials used, and the science of putrefaction, as well as the taboos and myths around olfaction and death.

de-acceleration

in my call for de-accelerating my nervous system, friend and reader Kristina sent me this beauty.

ocean vuong

On being generous in your work -- beloved poet Ocean Vuong discusses what it means to tackle new forms, the generosity required to be both a reader and a writer, and the radical notion of taking language into your own hands for the Creative Independent.

please consider donating to the campaign to save the integatron, an iconic landmark in the middle of the desert. sitting in the george van tassel's sound bath inspired by piece we of me, which is my artwork that i'm most proud of. (side note, the had a diner in the desert nearby called come on inn and served apple pie...just saying could be my future: science, magic, baked goods, hospitality, community).
