Giving Thanks

I am not much of a photographer, yet I don't have to be when God provides such splendor on our morning walk.

"For everything there is a season,
a time for every activity under heaven."  Ecclesiastes 3:1 NLT

But it's always the season for giving thanks.

As a writer, I know that verbs and verb tenses matter. That's why I entitled this newsletter "Giving Thanks."  Giving is the progressive tense and expresses ongoing or continuing action. Shouldn't that be what expressing gratitude is? A continual action on our parts that hopefully turns into an attitude. So here I am in this brief newsletter expressing my gratitude.

First of all, I am grateful for you and to you. When you read one of my books, you make my stories three dimensional and give life to my characters. Without you, I would have no reason to write. So thank you for reading my books.

And I wanted you to be the first to know about three announcements for which I am most grateful today.

1. Christmas at Bar Haven debuted last week as Amazon's #1 Release in Contemporary Literature and Fiction. This story kept me up at night, and I can tell you it also is the book I prayed over the most because its major theme is important to me. I do believe there was some divine intervention in this book's release. Thank you if you purchased this book, and I'd be so grateful to hear what you think. Did it resonate with you?

2. And, as I was still jumping up and down about that, I received notification that Christmas at Grey Sage was the winner in Inspirational Fiction in the American Book Fest Awards 2023 and Return of the Song was a finalist in the same category. What an humbling surprise! I am honored and grateful to be listed among such fine writers.

Writing, editing, and rewriting are always time-consuming work, taking several months for me to complete a book. But writing is such a peaceful and happy place that it doesn't seem like work at all. I am grateful to receive the recognition, but more than that I am grateful that God allows me to write stories where life and faith intersect and God's mystery and grace are woven throughout.

With "continuing" gratitude,
Phyllis
