DUT CELEBRATES EXCELLENCE IN RESEARCH, INNOVATION TEACHING & LEARNING, AS WELL AS EXEMPLARY BEHAVIOUR ALIGNED WITH THE INSTITUTION’S VALUES AND PRINCIPLES
To recognise staff and students who have had a significant impact on local, national and international communities through research, learning, teaching and exhibited exemplary behaviour that demonstrates the institution’s Values and Principles, the Durban University of Technology (DUT) hosted its 2022 ENVISION2030 Institutional Awards at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli Durban International Convention Centre (Durban ICC) on Friday, 24 November 2023.
This prestigious event honoured the DUT staff and students who through their efforts had contributed to the development of their society to improve lives and livelihoods.
DUT PARTNERS WITH LENOVO AND TOYOTA TO TRAIN 75 YOUNG GIRLS ON CODING, ROBOTICS AND INTERNET OF THINGS (IOT)
The Department of Information Technology at the Durban University of Technology (DUT), in partnership with Lenovo and Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM), are gearing up to host RoboGirl 2023, where 75 young girls will be trained on coding, robotics and the concepts of Internet of Things (IoT) from Monday, 04 December 2023 to Saturday, 09 December 2023.
This highly anticipated event will commence with the RoboGirl Opening Ceremony and Media Launch on Monday, 04 December 2023 at the DUT Ritson campus in Durban from 10h00 to 12h00.
STUDENT GOVERNANCE AND DEVELOPMENT HOSTED THE VICE-CHANCELLORS AND PRINCIPAL’S ENGAGEMENT WITH STUDENT LEADERS
The Student Governance and Development unit at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) hosted the Vice-Chancellor and Principal’s Engagement with student leaders. This important event was held at the Hilton Garden Inn on Tuesday, 28 November 2023.
The aim of the engagement was for the DUT management and student leaders to converse and engage on how the university can bridge the divide between students and the institution.
Ms Fathima Haffajee who is the Director of Student Services was the programme director for the day.
DUT AND SWEDISH EXPERTS HOST IN-PERSON ANIMATION MASTERCLASS
Swedish experts in motion graphics animation for media, advertising and movies, attended a meet and greet session with the Durban University of Technology (DUT) Faculty of Arts and Design staff and course attendees at City campus, on Monday, 27 November 2023. Postgraduate students and academics from Central University of Technology and UniZulu were also present. This engagement forms part of a week-long engagement around advancing Animation, which is also integrated within the Faculty’s Annual Research Conference programme at Coastlands Hotel, Musgrave.
TWO DUT GRADUATES ARE NAMED AS FINALISTS IN THE TOP 100 FINALISTS FOR THE 2023 DHL GRADSTAR AWARDS
Two Durban University of Technology (DUT) students were recently named as finalists in the Top 100 finalists for the 2023 DHL GradStar Awards.
The sterling finalists are former DUT graduates, Shaeel Baliram and Singa Nxumalo. In its eighth year, the GradStar Programme, in hand with BlackBark Productions has done the most in pushing awards and recognition boundaries by producing South Africa’s best and brightest, most employable students within their one of a kind programme.
The sponsors of this prestigious awards are DHL, Epiroc, Absa, EOH, Gautrain, FutureFit Academy, Golden Key Honours Society, Trace Academia and the Gauteng Provincial Government.
The Durban University of Technology (DUT) approved the ENVISION2030 Living Values Framework. The five values are identified as transparency, honesty, integrity, respect and accountability. The principles espoused are fairness, professionalism, commitment, compassion and excellence. Q: Kindly tell me about your role at DUT?
A: “I am currently a secretary for the Ecotourism department and take care of all administrative duties and students queries.”
