December News and Events

The excitement is slowly building as we approach the Week of Activities leading up to the 13th Annual BAAITS Two Spirit Powwow! Can you feel it? The official schedule is coming soon!

In November, our Two Spirit and IndigeQueer community learned more about traditional Tule canoe building with community partners at Alliance for Felix Cove, to reconnect with the Two Spirit Program in Vancouver and to spend a rainy day learning the art of beading with the Sweet Heart Dancers, Sean and Adrian. Not to mention attending some of the beautiful community offerings to celebrate Native American Heritage Month.

In December, we’ll honor the work of our first BAAITS cohort of TS & IndigeQueer Artist Mini-Grant recipients at the SF LGBTQ Center on December 8, and wrap up our 2023 activities with a Winter TS & IndigeQueer Potluck Social Mixer Potluck on Dec. 15th at the Oakland LGBTQ Center. Please join us!

Join us for this amazing lineup of talented Indigequeer artists, as we showcase their projects supported by our BAAITS 2023 Two-Spirit Artist-Culture Bearer Mini Grants! We'll be in the Rainbow Room at the SF LGBTQ Center where we'll start the evening with food and fun at our 5:30 pm reception. Our program featuring our artist presentations, performance, and short films, will begin at 6:30pm!

This two-part workshop features beading projects for our participants that began during last month's workshop and will be completed during the December workshop.
