Use your Lab phone number on a computer and smartphone

The Avaya Workplace soft phone app uses your Lab phone number on a smartphone or computer. The app complements your smartphone, giving you more flexibility and functionality in controlling your personal and work calls. There is no additional cost for existing Lab phone numbers. New Lab policy on shortened URL use

Did you know that the Lab has its own URL shortening service, https://go.lbl.gov? The Lab’s service is more secure than third-party options, is just as convenient, and allows you to customize your url. Lab policy states that, if you want to shorten a URL, you are required to use https://go.lbl.gov. Reading time: 5 minutes

End of Support for Outdated Operating Systems

This is a reminder for Berkeley Lab users regarding end of support for the following operating systems: Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows 10 version 21H2, Windows 11 version 21H2, macOS 11 Big Sur and older. Systems deemed as security risks may be blocked with no prior warning from accessing the Lab network. Reading time: 10 minutes

LabTech 2023 Recordings and a Quick Survey

This year marked the IT Division’s ninth annual technology event overall and our first production onsite since the virtual edition in 2020. We successfully hosted 30 hybrid speaker and demo sessions with about 180 registrants joining us in person.
