When Inspiration Hits
When does inspiration hit you?
When you’re ready to receive it, or some other time?
Are you able to drop everything and act on it when it comes?
If you’re a creative person, you may be getting hit with ideas while exercising, at a meeting, at a party, or even in your sleep. These are not ideal times to stop what you’re doing and start a new project, but this project could become a passion, a business and possibly even an empire.
As an artist who has many projects going at once, I run a tight schedule. I even have to schedule times to concentrate on future plans and new ideas. As you may know, planning for inspiration is rarely how it happens.
As a visionary I get hit with many ideas so I have to work at managing my attention. I often get hit with inspiration while I'm working on a deadline. It only talks a few short seconds for a great idea to slip away leaving me to say,
“What was I just thinking?”
What I do now, when I get hit with a bolt of inspiration, is I write down my idea, or send a text or email to myself as soon as it hits. This way I can add it to my folder of great ideas that I regularly re-visit.
I think it is an artist’s joy to have as many of their visions come to life. It is mine, and I hope it can be yours.

This Special Painting Party will be held at our favorite beachfront property in Waimānalo starting at 2pm.
You’ll get to paint a coconut, cruise on the beach and pier, and then enjoy a festive dinner party with the crew and artists of the Painting in Paradise TV show. You can even get a picture with Kimo the Christmas Horse like Gail did above.
