Dear <<First Name>>,

2023 has been a transformational year for V5 Initiative: New team members researching and publishing in depth reports for SOSOrinoco, more visualizations on the VE360 platform, and exponential growth of Porokata, our indigenous agroforestry project in Canaima World Heritage Site!

Your interest and support has empowered us to reach over 3.5 million engagements on X (formerly Twitter), provide vital information and insights to important media outlets such as The Economist, the FT, The Guardian, Washington Post, Mongabay and help policymakers, regional leaders and the general public understand the complex crisis that engulfs Venezuela and its neighbors.

Our impact:

  • SOSOrinoco informed policy makers at the UN, US government, UK parliament, EU parliament, think tanks on both sides of the Atlantic, IACHR, on Venezuelan gold mining and the environment.

  • VE360 expanded its reach through strategic media partnerships with renowned national and international media outlets like InsightCrime, Mongabay, and La Patilla, enhancing storytelling with cutting-edge geospatial tools and providing an integrative perspective on Venezuela's reality.

  • The Porokata Project continues to grow: there are now 40 extended indigenous Pemon families (600 people) involved in sustainable agroforestry, many of whom abandoned illegal mining in Canaima to join the project.

Although there is no easy solution to the “Venezuelan problem”, with your help, V5 Initiative continues to advance its mission of providing a profound diagnosis of the crisis and advancing possible solutions for sustainability.

Together we have had a profound impact. Your support has fueled the amazing energy and courageous work of our small but impactful team, most of which is on the ground, in Venezuela.

All donations for our projects are received and processed by V5 Initiative - a 501(c)(3) - therefore, generally, fully tax deductible for U.S. IRS tax purposes and we will send a receipt for your records.

Checks can be sent to: V5 Initiative, PO Box 40471, Washington DC 20016.

We hope to continue counting on your support as we move to consolidate what we have built and expand the reach of our work.

Gratefully yours,
Cristina V. Burelli
