The Arc of Southwest Colorado takes great pride in hosting our own Speaking for Ourselves group —an exceptional community of adults living with disabilities who advocate for their own needs. They actively engage in addressing legislative issues that directly affect them, and generously give back to our local community.
Meetings are held on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month at 11:30am.
Speaking for Ourselves is involved in specific projects, including assembling hygiene sock kits for those in need, organizing an annual spring walkathon, and sponsoring a tree for the Community Connections Festival of Trees. These initiatives reflect their commitment to making a positive impact and fostering inclusivity.

Contributions to our Speaking for Ourselves group will support essential supplies for the above projects. Additionally, your donations will help cover expenses for a Speaking for Ourselves member to attend the Disability Policy Seminar in Washington, D.C., scheduled for April. This seminar is a valuable opportunity for self-advocates to learn effective communication with legislators, while sharing their lived experiences and insights on how laws directly impact them. Your support empowers individuals to make their voices heard, creating positive change.
A donation of $1000.00 will sponsor 1 self advocate for this trip to DC.
