Nāu hoki i kaha hāpai ake tō tātou nei kaupapa a Taranaki Tū Mai 2023.
Herenga ngā waka, a runga, a raro, herenga ngā tāngata, a uta, a tai
Herenga te aroha o Te Atiawa ki ngā uki o Tamaariki, o Manaia, o Rakeiora
Tama tū, tama ora, Ngāti Tama ki te whai ao, ki te ao mārama e!

Another awesome Taranaki Tū Mai with our Te Atiawa whānau and ngā iwi o Taranaki whanaunga around our tupuna Maunga. A huge mihi to Ngāti Tama for hosting this year's successful event, our hapū and marae which hosted whānau from across the country, our 600+ Te Atiawa participants and supporters, and all Te Atiawa Taranaki Tū Mai coordinators. Ka mau te wehi!

Te Atiawa came third overall for Taranaki Tū Mai. We also took out three events including the coveted Kaumatua Games, as well as Tautohetohe and Bowls. We also placed highly in a number of other sports and events.

Two years until the next Taranaki Tū Mai e te whānau, which will be proudly hosted by Taranaki Iwi, 21 - 23 November 2025!

HOMEOWNERSHIP A REALITY
Earlier this month we were proud to see another whānau receive the keys to their new home. This time in Te Kōhanga Moa, Inglewood. Congratulations to Jazinda Komene and whānau who have worked closely with Ka Uruora to make their home ownership dreams a reality.

'Mihi ana ki te whānau Komene. This māmā has worked hard to get in to this whare
and they can now call this whare home' - Ka Uruora

TE RAUHĪ HIRINGA

Last week we welcomed six talented Te Atiawa uri into our inaugural internship programme - Te Rauhī Hiringa. In partnership with the Taranaki Mounga Project, each intern has been paired with projects including Te Kotahitanga, Taranaki Mounga, Te Papa Atawhai / Department of Conservation, He Mounga Puia, and Wildlife.AI, from now until mid-February 2024.

Te Rauhī Hiringa is a wonderful opportunity to support our whānau to build and strengthen their connection to their Te Atiawatanga. It is also a chance for all to gain new knowledge and experience in their areas of interest, and for us all to learn from each one of them.
We welcome (above from left)

  • Tere Porter-Rawiri (Te Atiawa)
  • Ethan Matuku (Te Atiawa, Ngāti Mutunga)
  • Lucas Larraman (Te Atiawa, Ngāti Mutunga)
  • Shianne Klenner (Te Atiawa, Taranaki, Ngāruahine, Ngāti Mutunga)
