Nominations Open: 
Making Democracy Work Awards

This year the LWVO will again present Making Democracy Work Awards to exceptional individuals and/or organizations who are creating sustainable, positive change in our community. We encourage all Oakland residents and Oakland-based organizations to submit nominations by January 15th.  Learn more.

LWVO Members Also Belong to the State League

Democracy Works: This legislative session, the LWVC fiercely advocated for Fair Maps, restoration of voting rights to incarcerated persons, improvements to statewide recall elections, and much more. Read our Year In Review.

LWVC Election Observers: Shasta County’s recent attempt to count ballots by hand drew national attention until thwarted by State law. LWVC observers were there to ensure unimpeded voting.
