Thanksgiving Edition

Parents, students, and staff- We have so many wonderful and exciting things to be grateful for in theatre this year! I reflected over the Thanksgiving break, took some time to breath after our busy VHSL Season, and celebrated the many blessings that we have at CHS— the students, their work, their love of acting, stagecraft, musical theatre and more. Jenny DiNoia was here for only one brief class period on a singleton Thursday, but even on that short day, we were together in celebration of this love of what we do. Here’s some footage from that MTE Workshop: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Ya68W0zQj4FgCEwopWCoyTCuTWKSaao2/view?usp=drive_link. Many thanks to Todd Wielar for his generous time and connections with DMR Adventures with Melissa Charles.

Tomorrow night, with the support of Karen Ward, the MTE class has been invited to see Titanic at the Paramount Theatre for FREE— they have even been invited to the pre-screening reception.

C’ville Players Wraps VHSL

The theatreCHS VHSL Season drew to a close on Nov 18 where 33 Variations performed alongside some of the best theatre One-Act productions in the state. I am grateful for their perseverance, their bravery with challenging setbacks, and still they came away stronger TOGETHER in celebration of theatre and community! Special thanks to our Assistant Director Liberty DeLeon, to the chaperones who assisted, to Andy Jones for his herculean efforts in allowing us to load up the truck for Regionals even when we weren’t having school. Thank you to everyone for your immense support of these amazing young people.

What’s next for C’ville Players?

Meanwhile C’ville Players will be working on Film Projects for submission to VHSL Film for Film Festival this June!

TITANIC COMES TO THE PARAMOUNT!

November 29, 2023 | 7:00PM

In the final hours of April 14, 1912, the RMS Titanic, on her maiden voyage from Southampton to New York, collided with an iceberg and ‘the unsinkable ship’ slowly sank. It was one of the most tragic disasters of the 20th Century. Fifteen hundred and seventeen men, women, and children lost their lives.

Based on real people aboard the most legendary ship in the world, Titanic: The Musical is ‘breathtaking’ (The Guardian) and ‘magnificent’ (The Telegraph), a stunning and stirring production focusing on the hopes, dreams, and aspirations of her passengers who each boarded with stories and personal ambitions of their own. All innocently unaware of the fate awaiting them, the Third-Class immigrants dream of a better life in America, the Second Class imagine they too can join the lifestyles of the rich and famous, whilst the millionaire Barons of the First Class anticipate legacies lasting forever.

With music and lyrics by Maury Yeston and a book by Peter Stone — the pair have collectively won an Academy Award, an Emmy Award, an Olivier Award, and three Tony Awards. The original Broadway production of Titanic: The Musical won five Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Score, and Best Book. This stunning production, captured live on stage for cinema screenings, celebrates the 10th anniversary of its London premiere, where it won sweeping critical acclaim.
