Interfaith Intersections - Watch the Video
Wisconsin Faith Voices for Justice is excited about the response to our new Interfaith Intersections program.  This program brings people together to hold intentional conversations on a variety of topics related to faith.

Goals:
- to deepen relationships among people of different faiths
- hold rich conversations on different topics
- learn about faiths other than your own.

On November 9, 2023, we met at Mt. Zion Baptist Church for an Interfaith Intersections event. The topic was "What does your faith teach you about death, dying, and the afterlife"? Panelists addressed the topic from their own Jewish, Buddhist, and Baptist perspectives.

Watch the video from this event here.

If you would like to be a panelist at future events, please contact Rabbi Bonnie Margulis at wifaithvoices4justice@gmail.com

We are deeply grateful to the Jewish Federation of Madison for their support of this program!

She is the author of The Dreamkeepers: Successful Teachers of African American Children and Crossing Over to Canaan: The Journey of New Teachers in Diverse Classrooms

Thank you to those congregations and communities that held Teach the Truth Wisconsin events this October!

As people of faith, we believe it is everyone’s responsibility to do their part to create communities where every human being can live a life of dignity and respect.  In order to do so, we need to know the truth about the sources of the injustice that plagues our society. The roots of present-day inequality include past practices and policies of discrimination and oppression that continue to shape all our lives.

But neither the history of racism and injustice in the U.S. nor the positive contributions by people from diverse communities have been adequately taught to our children or widely acknowledged. To make matters worse, forces of white supremacy and racism around the country are demanding that our public schools, universities, and libraries remove books and prevent teaching about our nation’s history of racism, slavery, sexism, and violence against marginalized communities. We need to counter these forces by telling the truth about our history.

You can see two of this year's Teach the Truth contributions here.  Stay tuned for information on next year's Teach the Truth.
Volunteer Opportunities -
WFVJ is Seeking a Treasurer and Nominations for Board Members
Wisconsin Faith Voices for Justice seeks a Volunteer Treasurer to join our Board. Duties include general oversight of WFVJ finances, reporting monthly to the Board; managing bi-monthly payroll ensuring that payroll taxes and reports are filed, and preparing financial information for tax reporting.

Familiarity with QuickBooks Online is a plus.

CPA not necessary but some experience working with non-profit accounting, or a willingness to learn is desired.

Filing annual tax reports optional depending on ability. Time commitment is approximately 2 hours/month, plus the time needed to prepare annual tax filings.

We also have open positions on our Board of Directors.  We meet monthly via zoom and once or twice a year in person for a half-day retreat.  We seek a diverse board in terms of age, geographic reach around Wisconsin, faith traditions, ethnicity, gender identify. If you are committed to justice and building bridges among faiths, please be in touch to learn more!

If interested, or to learn more, please contact WFVJ Executive Director
Rabbi Bonnie Margulis at wifaithvoices4justice@gmail.com or 608-513-7121.
