What's On This Week

With a District Governor visit "Cluster Meeting" held on Monday 20th November, our weekly meeting for this week was originally cancelled in favour of attending Monday's meeting instead.

However, last week the Annual General Meeting for our club charitable foundation didn't go ahead, with none of the 4 current board members present. So the AGM has been rescheduled to be held briefly this Wednesday online via "Teams".
No birthdays this week

Joyful October

Our Singaporean member, Sheila Cheng, had a joyful and memorable October in creating two new snacks to distribute to the Health Care Assistants and members of the Anglican Care Centre, Simei. She hopes they enjoyed the green rice cakes and spicy butter cookies!

Baking has given Sheila endless opportunities to explore and experiment with different types of ingredients. She feels happy whenever she creates something interesting. Sometimes she analyses old recipes from her mother and siblings. It is a joy to make or bake delicacies, be it working alone at home or with a group of people during her volunteering sessions.

For this October, Sheila created two homemade items. Firstly, she handcrafted a tray of non-baked green glutinuous rice cakes. Sheila filled each piece with low sugar lotus paste to reduce the consumption of sugar. She added a piece of roasted almond to each piece to give a unique texture and taste. This is a new creation Sheila has made out of curiosity, using fine motor skills.

Additionally, Sheila baked a tray of brown butter cookies using various spices to enhance the aroma and taste. It is so exciting to use two special cookie cutters. The outcome of the baked cookies was distinctive. She particularly like the logo and wordings of Rotary International on the cookies. (Thanks to Sheila's friend Anny for the loan).
