Tomorrow is Giving Tuesday!
As a nonprofit independent school, we rely on donations from our community to be able to do what we do best - provide an inspiring learning community for children and families in Clark County. All donations are tax deductible and allow us to further expand our program and diversify our community, complete exciting facilities upgrades, and offer our staff professional development opportunities.
Donations big and small make a difference, and your gift is appreciated!

Staff Member Introduction
Peter Pickett, PE Teacher
Peter came to the Gardner School in 2015 while looking for a school for his two daughters. He was drawn to the Gardner School for their unique holistic approach to teaching along with the amazing spaces to learn. Peter has been responsible for creating an inclusive and engaging program that centers around the multiple intelligences philosophy.
In his time at the Gardner School, Peter has created a successful PE & Health curriculum for indoor and outdoor education that includes forest play for students preschool through 6th grade. He has integrated mental health practices such as meditation practices, yoga, and play based curriculum starting at the youngest age. He believes in learning through play and engagement and his classes foster a love for physical activity along with social-emotional connections.
Peter is also considered one of the top soccer coaches in Oregon/SW Washington. He has coached for many different programs including Clark College Women’s program where he won 5 straight conference titles and was undefeated in conference all 5 years on his way to being named NWAC South Region Coach of the year in 2021. He's also the creator of the Snow Ball, and we're grateful for all he does at Gardner!

Learning in Action
Get Ready for Gardner Market!
Gardner Market is an opportunity for students in kindergarten through 6th grade to create and sell products or services to our wider community. On February 26th, 2024 at 1:30 pm, we will gather on our campus to purchase these products and services from our students.
Students learn about the basics of running their own business with Gardner Market. Our 2nd grade and older students work individually or with a partner to brainstorm ideas and to create their inventory, and our Kalama and Pahto students work as a whole class to prepare items. Some eager students may want to start creating items over Winter Break even!
Ahead of the market day, students select a local charity to donate the proceeds from the market. Students are allowed to keep up to half of the earnings to cover the cost of materials, but can choose to donate all of the earnings if desired. This act of giving is one of the core elements of Gardner Market, and last year our students donated over $1,300 to Second Chance Companions.
Whether this is your family's first Gardner Market experience, or if your child is a seasoned seller, we know this will be a great day! Save the date on your calendar, and stay tuned for more info to be sent home in classroom newsletters soon. In the meantime, you can check out this FAQ page about Gardner Market.
