Tuesday Reminders - December 12, 2023

Assumption Catholic School

The Assumption Catholic community, united in the Eucharist, provides a challenging academic education where living a Christ-centered life comes first.

Dear Parents,

I would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has already sent in toys for our annual Christmas Toy Drive. We are working to collect at least 372 items so that each child at Guardian Catholic School receives one Christmas present.  For those who haven’t had a chance to contribute yet, the final day of collectionis tomorrow.

I am also sad to share that our technology teacher, Rachel Thurson, will not be returning in January. Rachel has been an integral part of our school family, most recently contributing her passion and knowledge of technology to enhance our students’ learning experiences and further our STREAM initiatives. We are immensely grateful for her contributions and wish her all the best in her future endeavors. We are actively working to fill this position and if you know of anyone who may be interested, please have them contact me directly.

As we immerse ourselves in the joy and warmth of the Christmas season, let us remember the spiritual moments we’ve shared and the growth our students have experienced throughout this year. May the Christmas season bring you and your loved ones peace, love, and joy.

Step 1: Create an account. You only need one account per family.

Step 2: Buy your books!

*8th Grade parents- the cost of one book was included in your 8th Grade annual fee.

Step 3: Share photos for yearbook consideration!

• Once logged into your account, select Content from the left side.

• Select the ACS 23-24 folder and click add photos. Select your photo and add captions or tags. Information is helpful when selecting for the yearbook.

Police Stop Station- Donations Needed

Assumption Church offers a police stop station to JSO officers as a place to take a break, grab a snack, have some coffee, etc. Having a well stocked stop station encourages officers to come by and have an increased presence on our campus. The church is asking our school families to assist in stocking the station by donating snacks. We’ve set up an Amazon wishlist below. Remember, every $25 spent counts for one volunteer hour through Track it Forward.

Winter Months Dress code (December through February)

Girls may wear plain black, navy blue, white, or gray tights or leggings. Leggings must be down to the ankle. Girls may wear the navy pants found at the uniform store during winter months. Pajama style pants and sweatpants may not be worn at any time. Non-uniform jackets must be removed once inside the buildings. Grades 4-8 can wear Assumption School sweatpants or sweatpants of the same style in black or dark navy on PE days only.

Christmas Toy Drive

As we have been working to serve our community, and those in need, it is time for Assumption’s annual Christmas Toy Drive. This year, we will partner with Guardian Catholic School to provide local Catholic school students with Christmas gifts. To make this a meaningful experience for your child, we ask that they select an item that they want themselves and donate that item to our cause. Donations will be accepted until Wednesday, December 13th.

Volunteer Opportunity Senior Luncheon

Mrs. Fetrow is looking for someone to take over her role as Senior Luncheon Coordinator. She would like to mentor someone this year. This volunteer would earn their 20 volunteer hours and a grandparent can fill this role as well to earn for their grandchildren. If you are interested, please contact Sharon Fetrow at 904-302-2957.

Lunchroom Volunteers

Please use the below link to sign up to help out in our lunchroom. The Cafeteria has requested extra helping hands during lunch. Duties would include helping younger students opening items, sanitizing tables between classes, and sweeping the floors.  It's a treat to get to interact with students of all ages. If you're unable to volunteer the entire time, just note the times you're available in the comments. Parents in Prayer

Are you a praying parent? Do you know the power of the praying parent?  Come help us pray for our children at Assumption along with the teachers and other staff.  We will gather to lift up the children's prayer intentions each week on Wednesday at 8:00a.m..  Check in at the front office.  You are welcome to come and go as your schedule allows. Advent Penance Service and MassTimes

December 20 Penance Service: 6:00PM until all confessions are heard

With the 4th Sunday of Advent falling Sunday, December 24 which is Christmas Eve, please make sure to still attend Sunday Mass along with Christmas Mass. Please note the Mass times below for each liturgy.

• Choose One Mass for Fourth Sunday of Advent:

December 23: 4:00PM

December 24: 8:00AM, 10:00AM,12:00PM

• Choose One Mass for Christmas:

December 24: 4:00PM, 6:30PM

December 25: Midnight and 10:00AM

December 31: Regular Sunday schedule

January 1: 10:00 AM Mass only (Not a Holy Day of Obligation this year)
