| Principal’s Notes | As the semester winds down, and we at the office are finishing things up for the season, I wanted to wish everyone happy holidays! Lady Eaton College is as amazing as it is because of our community of wonderful students and staff, and I feel it is only appropriate to thank you all for such an amazing first semester. Whether you used our office resources (such as Academic Advising or Academic Skills), or you attended one of our many events, or you came to the office for free stickers, you are all the light that makes Lady Eaton so bright and warm. | Our last day in the office is December 21st, but we will be back into the swing of things January 4th. For now, in our last newsletter of the semester, I wanted to simply say thank you, happy holidays, and we’ll see you in January!

| Story Time with Steph | Hello Lady Eaton Humans of 2023!
This is our last Storytime with Steph of 2023!! How is it possible!? It has both felt like a blink of a year and a long one, at the same time. I heard once on the Ted Radio Hour podcast, speakers curated for their studies on the topic of "Time", that as we get older, the reason that time actually does feel like it flies by faster is because we have experienced more time and seasons and have developed a better perspective of it. That noted, I also live by the adage that "time flies when you are having fun" for good measure -or joyful measure, anyway! Speaking of joyful measure, I do hope that during our winter break you find yourself on the trail of your own joy and that you find some time to be cozy and surrounded by friends: I wish you Gemutlich! (the feeling of feeling comfortably at home, welcomed by friends!) LEC What!?
Not to get too far ahead of ourselves here but, when the holidays are behind us and a fresh new year begins, the Lady Eaton College Office has some really great events planned for your creative enjoyment! You might even want to get a head start (joyfully!) on your winter break, so, I thought I would shine a light forward and mention a few! The week of December 7th we have "Frost Week" across campus and many events happening! LEC will be holding a Welcome Home movie night on January 9th, in the Pit- watch our socials for movie voting opportunities! We also have an LEC Cooks on the 11th - so much fun! All of February we hold our Photo contest, so, you might want to get snapping photos out there to submit for a chance to win a money prize. AND speaking of money for art! We have our Annual Art Auction coming up fast as well! So, if you make any kind of art and would like to submit up to 3 pieces to our art auction, we would be happy to try to find buyers and hope you will all spread the word, too!!
So! This is your call to take some time for yourself this winter break and maybe spend some time being creatively yourself and then share that out, if that feels right to you! No one can do these things like you can and I would LOVE to see what you can do, if you want to share your art- anytime!!
I wish you all that you wish for yourself on your break and true story; I am really looking forward to seeing you when we are all back in our beloved LEC in 2024! | Keep being you! You shining your light makes a difference, Good People. True Story
Happy Holiday wishes to you,
Steph Wildheart |

So get creative over the break and stay tuned for more information in the new year! | | The annual LEC Photo Contest is coming up soon! You are welcome to submit a photo of a Trent space for your chance to win! More information is to come in the new year. Get snapping those photos! | Musings on Music | Hello fellow LEC people!
This Musings on Music is a bittersweet column for me, as this will be my last music column (until next academic year hopefully!). Next semester I will no longer be in office for LEC, as I am embarking on a new adventure studying abroad! Come January, I will be out-of-country and officially in England as a University of Birmingham student! With this toad-ally awesome journey also means (sadly) I no longer get to write for the Drumline, which I will genuinely miss because I love to overshare my music tastes. But, I have one last column to share! This column has no rhyme or rhythm, the songs for this week are simply songs I’m currently enjoying as I finish up my semester. For one last time, this week’s suggestions are as follows: “Glass Chalet” by Wilbur Soot (from Mammalian Sighing Reflex) “Dropshipped Cat Shirt” by Wilbur Soot (from Mammalian Sighing Reflex) “Eulogy” by Wilbur Soot (from Mammalian Sighing Reflex) “By Your Hand” by Los Campesinos! (from Hello Sadness) “I Want You” by Mitski (from retired from sad, new in career business) “There Is a Light That Never Goes Out” by The Smiths (from The Queen is Dead) “Human Too” by The 1975 (from Being Funny in a Foreign Language) “Knee Deep at ATP” by Lovejoy (from Knee Deep at ATP - it’s a single covering a Los Campesinos! song)
Also, I’ll take this opportunity to promote LEC’s new Spotify page! My hopes with the Spotify page are to document my music suggestions from this column, as well as have other ambassadors and professional staff share their own music tastes. While I will not be here next semester to run it, my hope is that my fellow ambassadors will add to it as they please, and I will pick up managing the account next year! Follow the page to keep up with all of the fun music enjoyed here in the College Office! | Until next time, Ashley Smith Lady Eaton College Ambassador Resident Stardew Valley Enthusiast |

| Bookish Babbles | Happy end of the semester LEC!
I’m sure many of you are already enjoying your winter break, but if you’re like me you still have an exam or two to write. The finish line is in sight! The end of the semester also bring the end of 2023. Time seemed to fly by this year and I can’t quite believe that 2024 is right around the corner. This past year has been full of ups and downs (a truly wild rollercoaster) but I had good books to help me through. One in particular stood out though and this week my recommendation is my favourite read of 2023!
Recommendation: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins! Dystopia! Villain point of view! Songs! This popular prequel to The Hunger Games trilogy has so many things to love: social commentary, romance, incredible world building, and so much more! | Have a restful break and a wonderful holiday season!
