ORCHESTRE TOUT PUISSANT MARCEL DUCHAMP - YAKKIDA! - IVOR WOODS

Saturday 16th December 5:00pm-10:30pm

catHead - Heledd C Evans - Joshua Jones, Jim Gibson & Howl Hubbard - Orchestre Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamp - Yakkida! - Ivor Woods

catHead is a new electronic music project working across genres, most notably blending elements of ambient, electroacoustic, techno, downtempo, breakbeat and UK bass. catHead designs and builds their own experimental instruments from recycled materials and uses them alongside vocals, environmental recordings and a variety of hardware, traditional acoustic and electronic instruments. Producing ethereal soundscapes, pulsating bass rhythms and glistening textures punctuated by natural sounds and metallic drum hits, catHead’s music evokes a warm sense of nostalgia whilst also hinting towards an eerie dystopian future. The new project is set to launch in 2023 alongside a series of live performances. https://www.instagram.com/cathead.music/

catHead is the alias of Gwen Siôn, an award-winning composer, producer, pianist and multidisciplinary artist working with sound, sculpture, DIY electronics, moving image and installation. She creates multi-instrumental, vocal and electronic compositions, and makes her own hand-built instruments and sculptural sound devices by repurposing both natural and industrial materials.

Gwen was nominated for the 2023 Electronic Music Award as part of the Arts Foundation Futures Awards, she was subsequently shortlisted and made one of only four finalists across the UK for the category. Funding awarded by Sound and Music’s New Voices programme and the Arts Council England DYCP grant has supported the development of a new experimental electronic music alias – catHead, as a result Gwen is undertaking a tour of live performances to launch the project taking place between August and December 2023. https://www.gwension.com
