Elmwood Park Holiday Giving
After our successful Halloween 5k and in the spirit of giving back this season, the Elmwood Park Neighborhood Association has decided to give two $500 donations to local charities working on issues of importance to our neighborhood. Our board has narrowed it to four non-profits and our membership will select the two winners via vote. Learn more about each below.
Be on the lookout for a second email with your voting link via our Wild Apricot membership platform. (Only currently active neighborhood association members will receive a link to vote.)
Cola Town Bike Collective
The most important part of our mission is to provide low cost/no cost bikes and repairs for people in our community who rely on two wheels as their only form of transportation. These bikes are used to get to work, doctors appointments, to pick up groceries, and many other essential tasks. These bikes act as a liferaft for our clients.
Harvest Hope
Harvest Hope is on a mission to eliminate hunger and food insecurity in South Carolina and provides over 20 million meals each year. Our programs provide food for our most vulnerable citizens – children, seniors, and rural residents who don’t have access to grocery stores. We also run emergency food pantries in Greenville and Columbia where anyone in need can get a week’s supply of groceries for free.
Homeless No More
Homeless No More is the preeminent organization in South Carolina’s Midlands working to stabilize, shelter and house vulnerable families. Our model is unique. We provide a spectrum of care—from emergency services to transitional shelter—that keeps family members together and meets their needs at the right time with services that are meaningful and appropriate. We’re also a dedicated developer of affordable housing across the state.
Rapid Shelter Columbia
Rapid Shelter Columbia is the first transitional housing project of its kind in the southeast featuring 50 individual sleeping pods and congregate sleeping quarters that are utilized for overflow purposes during inclement weather nights. It is often a first stop for individuals experiencing homelessness, especially in our downtown area. Rapid Shelter Columbia also offers a full array of wrap around services including case management, life skills and arrangements for permanent housing.
