This is a space to share timely marketing callouts, resources and updates for better regional connectivity and impact! This drop-in call is for people in roles involving tourism development and promotion in Eastern Oregon. This can include Destination Management Organizations, chambers of commerce, city or county employees, Main Street organizations, economic development organizations, visitor centers, and more.

This month, we will be highlighting Resources + Opportunities, Travel Oregon's upcoming Resident Sentiment Survey, updates on the Eastern Oregon Visitor Guide, and Winter + Spring Content planning.

2024 Oregon Governor’s Conference on Tourism -
Scholarships Available!

Applications are due by January 12.

The application process for scholarships to the 2024 Oregon Governor’s Conference on Tourism is now open.

To be eligible, applicants must be one of the following: 1) currently enrolled in a college-level program applicable to a tourism sector; 2) a small entity (five or fewer full-time employees) owner or employee within the tourism industry; or 3) a volunteer within the tourism industry. Scholarship recipients will receive complimentary conference registration and two nights of lodging.

Review all criteria, list of preferences, timeline and selection process before applying here. Applications are due by January 12.

Conference registration will open in mid-January and will feature an early-bird registration price that will be available only for the month of January.

Sponsorships and exhibitor spaces are still available. Please address any interest or questions to events@traveloregon.com.

EOVA Staff will be attending the Oregon Destination Association Conference in Newberg next month.  We are seeking items for the 2024 Eastern Oregon Regional Basket.
 
Let’s showcase the Eastern Oregon region and fill our Regional Destination Basket with products and/or Gift Certificates from businesses, attractions, lodging, restaurants, retail and experiences that tell the story of our fabulous region.

Oregon Wine Symposium
February 13-14, 2024 in Portland

Each year, the Oregon Wine Board works with industry volunteers who comprise its Education Committee to carefully evaluate and design the curriculum around the most pressing needs of the industry. The needs assessment comes from survey input, qualitative feedback, and marketplace trend analysis.

INPUT NEEDED

Greater Hells Canyon Council (GHCC) is collecting input from Blue Mountains Trail users, the recreation community, and residents living in proximity to the trail to inform future outreach and trail development plans.

The Blue Mountains Trail is an effort led by Greater Hells Canyon Council (GHCC), a member-based organization comprised of individuals who love the Greater Hells Canyon Region, which stretches from the Seven Devils in Idaho to the Elkhorn Mountains in Oregon, the Blue Mountains to the Wallowas, and everything in between. Greater Hells Canyon Council is utilizing this survey to collect input from Blue Mountains Trail users, the recreation community, and residents living in proximity to the trail.

Seeking community members to be apart of an advisory body made up of members who are connected to and participate in Oregon Humanities programs. This group is charged with advising Oregon Humanities on new program development, current program themes, and collaborators. They also support promotion of Oregon Humanities programs.

They see this group as a critical part of: 

  • Ensuring our work is representative of and connected to issues affecting communities around Oregon
  • Bringing community voice into our decision making,
  • Shaping our program improvement processes, and 
  • Amplifying the work of Oregon Humanities around the state.

New Media Library created and hosted by the Oregon Wine Board

The Oregon Wine Board (OWB) has launched an ambitious project that has captured and posted more than 1,000 scenic photos from winemaking regions in each corner of the state.  The new OWB Media Library, available here on the OWB pressroom, and here on CrowdRiff, makes the difficulty of sourcing photos a thing of the past. Not to mention attaining photo credit and usage, which is all listed cleanly and clearly next to each photo.

OCDP is a grassroots federal, state, and local partnership initiated in underserved rural communities in southern and eastern Oregon. This trailblazing project includes an exceptional public education component and their research is helping to update and recenter the history of the Chinese diaspora in Oregon.
