CalGrant Feedback

Message included on behalf of ASUCD (Associated Students of the University of California Davis):

For the 2023-2024 academic year, UCSA's Fund the UC Campaign will advocate for the expansion of CalGrant lifetime eligibility beyond four years. At the same time, we will be advocating for full funding for the Cal Grant Equity framework, which would enable an additional estimated 150,000 Californians to receive Cal Grant that are currently ineligible. As a result, it is vital to receive input from the many students both of these programs would affect. If you receive Cal Grant, are ineligible to receive Cal Grant because of various reasons, or have received Cal Grant in the past but ran out of eligibility -- we would love to hear from you!!! These testimonials will be vital for our continuous advocacy.

Any personal information, such as name and email addresses, will be kept confidential unless otherwise noted. Please DO note if you would be comfortable with us using your responses/testimony in our advocacy (for example, to the Legislature, Governor's Office, in op-eds or other articles advancing our advocacy), either with or without identification. We will always reach out to you before we use your testimony, if you do give us consent.

You may opt in for a chance to win a raffle gift card!! If selected, you will be reached out to directly using the email provided.

Study of UC Single Mothers of Color

"Research Participants Needed: Low-Income Single Mother of Color Experiences at a UC Campus"

Dear UC Parenting Students,

I am a doctoral student at California State University, Long Beach, and I am writing to request your support in recruiting student participants for my dissertation study. This qualitative study aims to understand the experiences of low-income single mothers of color college students at a University of California (UC) campus. Additionally, this study seeks to highlight the strengths low-income single mothers of color utilize to persist in college.

To participate in the study, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Identify as a single mother

  • Identify as a person of color

  • Identify as low-income

  • Either attending or recently graduated from a UC campus

  • Be 18+ years old

Individuals who meet this criteria and are interested in participating should complete the following interest form: https://tinyurl.com/LISMCInterest. Individuals who complete the interest form by Dec. 15th will be entered into an opportunity drawing to receive a digital gift card to Amazon for $25 dollars via email.

Individuals who submit the interest form and meet the research criteria will receive an email invitation to fill out the consent form and a demographic survey as the first steps of this research interview process. Participants will be prompted to sign up for an interview timeslot after signing the consent form and filling out the demographic survey.

Interviews will take place via Zoom and will last approximately 60-90 minutes. As a token of appreciation for your time, participants will be compensated with a $25 digital gift card to Amazon via email. Participation is completely voluntary, and participants can end their participation at any point.

Sincerely,
