Tuesday's (12/12) City Council meeting is largely ceremonial. Most of the agenda items are related to the rotation of the roles on Council. As my last act of Mayor, I will offer reflections on the past year and the accomplishments of our Council, Staff and Community. After this I will leave the Mayor position and the Council will select a new Mayor and new Vice Mayor. I will go back to being Councilmember Jen Wolosin. Tuesday's meeting will end with small celebration with light refreshments. Come join us!
Menlo Park typically has a very cordial transition of power, and I anticipate no less this year. Hopefully this likely harmonious process will foreshadow the upholding of our democratic norms and ideals through the country and the world. Let us try to hold on to our humanity, kindness and well-wishes for one another.
This is likely my last newsletter of the calendar year. Our proposed Council meeting calendar (to be voted on Tuesday night) shows January 9th as our first meeting of 2024, so my next scheduled newsletter will come next year. Between then and now, I hope you are able to enjoy some good times with your friends and family. May the light of the holiday season brighten all of our days.
