2024 Summary Plan Document (SPD)

2024 SPD—Cash In Lieu of Health Coverage Under the Plan

As of January 1st, 2024, the North American Division Healthcare Assistance Plan (aka Ascend to Wholeness Plan, the Plan) has been amended to add a “cash in lieu of medical coverage” option in order to ensure legal compliance. If you, as the employer, choose to provide this “Employer Opt-Out Payment” to your employees, there are several key items you must implement to comply with IRS requirements. They are as follows:
  1. Disclosure of this payment option must be made to your employees in open enrollment materials prior to the plan year including the amount of the Opt-out payment.
  2. The employee must provide you with proof of or an attestation to having major medical coverage under another employer’s plan.
  3. An employee who makes an election that falls under this “cash in lieu of medical coverage” option cannot change that election until open enrollment or if they have a qualifying status change (such as a marriage, birth of child, employment status change). See the “Change in Status” section on page 37 of the 2024 SPD.

Direct Letter of Agreement for Adventist Health—Update

The direct letter of agreement that went into effect on May 1, 2023, with Adventist Health ended as of October 23, 2023. Aetna Signature Administrators and Adventist Health, in California, agreed to a three-year contract and are back in-network retroactive to May 1, 2023.

The 2024 quarterly meeting invites were sent out November 29, 2023. Below are the dates and times. Agendas will be sent for each as we get closer to the meeting date.

Flores & Associates – Flexible Spending Account

The IRS has increased the flexible spending account (FSA) maximum contribution to $3,200 ($150 more than 2023). The carry over limit for the 2024 plan year has also increased to $640 ($30 more than 2023). If an employee selected the FSA maximum limit during open enrollment, their FSA contribution amount will be updated to the IRS maximum automatically.

There is no change to the Dependent Care FSA maximum; it is still $5,000 per household ($2,500 if married and filing separately).
 


2024 Voya Premium Template

The 2024 Voya premium templates, as an excel sheet, will be available on January 8, 2024 via your FileCloud access in the main folder. Beginning in January 2024, please make sure you use the 2024 Voya premium template. NOTE: The Accidental Death & Dismemberment has been added to the premium template.
 


bswift Username Standardization

In January, we will standardize all the employee usernames in bswift to match the username sequence: employer six-digit number, first three letters of first name, first three letters of last name.

There will be very limited fall outs due to:
  • Incorrect SSN
  • Mismatched salary and time status
  • Duplicate username found
These accounts will need to be handled individually by the employer. We will send a fall out report to help you identify and correct the accounts.
 

Effective January 1, 2024, Aaptiv will be available in Virgin Pulse! Aaptiv is a discounted gym membership platform that gives you access for up to 17,000 gyms! Aaptiv also has FREE digital workouts for both at home and in a gym. We will send out dedicated resources in an ad hoc communication.
 

VP Stats!

Over the next few months, we will share interesting statistics from the 2024 Wellness Campaign. The first stat we would like to highlight is the enrollment and engagement of the employees and spouses.
