The 30th Ward participated in events across the ward in late November, both joyful and sad. Read on to see where we’ve been. | Turkey Giveaways We provided turkeys to 100 seniors in the 30th Ward and helped distribute turkeys to those in need with our neighbor, Realty of Chicago. We also partnered with State Representative Eva Dina Delgado and the 25th District Police department to distribute turkeys to local seniors. |

Honoring a Fallen Hero I attended the memorial for Firefighter Andrew Price who was killed in the line of duty. The city came together to honor and mourn our neighbor in the 30th Ward. Drew Price was a devoted husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend. My heart goes out to Drew’s immediate family and the firehouse family at Engine 55.

I attended a Ghost Bike Vigil for Josh Anleu, a teenager who was struck by a car and killed while riding his bicycle. A ghost bike is a bike that is painted all white and installed where a cyclist was killed or severely injured, usually by a motorist. The ghost bike serves as a memorial for the cyclist and a somber reminder to drivers that they need to share the road with cyclists.
