THE BOOKER PRIZE 2023 WINNER REVEALED AT SPECTACULAR CEREMONY

The Booker Prize 2023 was awarded at a ceremony at Old Billingsgate on Sunday, November 26. The winning novel, Prophet Song, is an exhilarating and confrontational portrait of a country – and a family – on the brink of catastrophe, set in Ireland. Premier handled the PR and event management for the prestigious prize, overseeing the award ceremony as well as multiple events in the lead up, including the shortlist readings at the Southbank Centre, and a reception at Clarence House with Her Majesty the Queen.

Premier produced the ceremony which was attended by over 300 guests, VIPs and famous faces, and oversaw the hour-long livestream hosted by Jack Edwards, as well as the live broadcast as a special episode of BBC Radio 4 Front Row. The ceremony also saw a keynote speech from Nazanin-Zaghari Ratcliffe on how reading saved her during her time in solitary confinement.

The resulting press office activity, red carpet and schedule of TV, radio and print interviews led to over 2,700 pieces of international coverage, from Channel 4 News, CNN, LBC, RTE, Al Jazeera, Sky News and much more.
Premier was tasked with sourcing, designing and managing a tailored event that elevated the traditional concept and brought a new lease of life to the awards. In a write up following the ceremony, BookBrunch stated that “the prize has probably seen more change in the last few years than at any other time in its 54-year history. And I think it is fair to conclude that, so far, the experiment is succeeding.”

Following the winner announcement, the newly crowned Lynch, was in conversation with Manchester-based writer, Okechukwu Nzelu at HOME in Manchester on Tuesday 28 November to talk about his winning book Prophet Song. The event, produced out of Premier’s Manchester office, was held in partnership with global film distributor and streaming service MUBI. Following the Q&A there was a screening of, In My Room, the film that MUBI chose to complement it.
