Dec. 12 will be proclaimed Christine Sinclair Day in B.C. to recognize the extraordinary career and outstanding achievements of our Canadian women's soccer legend.

Though our Burnaby soccer star announced her retirement will be on Dec. 6, Christine's legacy will thrive through the Burnaby Christine Sinclair Centre and the newly established Christine Sinclair Foundation, dedicated to empowering girls with goals.

Embracing the festive spirit! Last Saturday, I had the pleasure of attending the Festival of Lights at Edmonds Community Centre. I was thrilled to join the community in spreading joy and celebrating the holiday season. What an enchanting evening filled with lights, music, and shared warmth!

Premier’s, parliamentary secretary’s statement on International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women

Saturday, November 25 marked the beginning of 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.

Our New Democrat government is committed to ending gender-based violence and supporting survivors and organizations that provide them with vital services and care.

This includes annual funding of more than $10 million to sexual-assault response service providers; ensuring survivors have access to low-cost and no-cost counselling, outreach and crisis-support services; supporting victim-service programs; and making critical investments in transition housing, safe homes and second-stage housing throughout the province.

Anti-Hate Community Support Fund grant applications are now open

Hate has no place in our province. 

Community organisations throughout the province that have experienced or are at risk of experiencing hate-motivated crimes are encouraged to submit grant applications for the Anti-Hate Community Support Fund.

Applications are open from Nov. 28, 2023, until March 31, 2024 or until all funding is spoken for.

B.C.’s strong fiscal foundation supports people through global challenges

While other governments cut the services people rely on when times are tough, we have built a strong fiscal foundation and will continue to support people.

We continue to have one of the lowest debt burdens and debt-to-GDP ratios in the country.

Our government will continue to work towards a stronger B.C. for the people of British Columbia.
