We are a little behind in releasing videos from the Stockton archives (who could have predicted? ). So this month we are dusting off 3 films from the 1986 camp.
František Bonuš was a professor of dance, focused on Czech and Slovak dances. In 1948, Professor Bonuš was appointed choreographer, advisor, and technical consultant to the Československý státní soubor písní a tanců, a major Českoslovak national Dance Assembly. In this 1986 video, Professor Bonuš dances a combination of Czech and Slovakian dances.
Jacek 'Jack' Marek was born in Krakow Poland in 1943. He earned his Master's Degree at Poznań, where he joined the dance group Wielkopolsk, and there met his wife and dance partner Bożena. In 1973 they formed their own dance ensemble and Jacek was appointed Director of Folklore Arts for the province of Poznań. Starting in 1973 Jacek and Bożena began teaching Polish dances across the world. In this 1986 video, Jarek and Bożena dance the Polish dances they presented at that year's Camp.
was an internationally known folk dance teacher and choreographer. For several years he was director of folk dance at Technion University and the chairman of seminars in the education department. The choreographies Bentzi helped develop can befound here. Bentzi began coming to the US to teach starting in 1978. In this 1986 video Bentizi demonstrates dances from Israel he presented at that year's Camp.
