A LOOK BACK AT 2023

and A LOOK FORWARD TO 2024

Shalom,

During these incredibly difficult times for Israel and Jews everywhere in the world we have managed to continue our work with isolated and emerging Jewish communities. As a small volunteer organization we are attempting to grow so we can continue to make a difference in the lives of many isolated Jewish communities in many countries.

In the past year we have contributed to ongoing projects in various ways and hosted hybrid webinars. Please read on and support our work.

We purchased and sent a Schita knife to Indonesia.

We provided funds to the Deaf Education Project in Uganda for deaf Jewish students who board at the school and otherwise have no opportunity for education and to learn sign language.

We sold and sent the proceeds of their challah covers to Sefwi Wiwaso in Ghana.

At year end we are purchasing a sewing machine for the “Tailor Training” program in Uganda which trains local Jewish women to become tailors, starting with making school uniforms for Jewish children. Click here for the full gallery of photos.

We maintain ongoing contact and support with the Jews of Suriname and contribute to their annual community seder.

In 2023, we offered viewers the film Xueta Island: A Hidden History about the Jewish history of Majorca, and followed it with a webinar featuring the film’s producer and narrator, Dani Rotstein.

In 2024, we are inviting a Jewish Nigerian, Remy Ilona, to do a webinar on the history and current lives of Nigerian Jews.

Our Board also met with speakers whose personal experience provided us with the history of the Jews of Bangladesh and the current small Jewish community in Pakistan.

Our mission in 2024 is to increase our support for isolated, emerging and returning Jewish communities worldwide.

We see what a difference this makes.

We invite you to contribute to Kulanu Canada at https://kulanucanada.org.

Best wishes for a happy, healthy 2024.

THANK YOU for your support!
