A very Merry Christmas from all of us. We wish you all a happy holiday and new year ahead.

Thank you for helping look after and improve our park in 2023, and for welcoming our community through the events and activities you have run or been involved with this year.

Christmas Market
We hope you enjoyed the Christmas Market last Sunday - we had such an amazing time.

Almost 800 of you joined us for some festive fun and to show support for our local small businesses.

A huge thank you to the The Place to Be and Frothy Coffee Hut for hosting such a magical event and to Hunters Catford, Lewisham Police Cadets, Santa, Glendale Lewisham, vendors and our fabulous volunteers who made it all come together.

We hope to see you all back in 2024.

1. Christmas Even Junior Park Run - 9am on Sunday 24 December 

2. Boxing Day Walk - 11am on Tuesday 26 December with the healthy walks team and park volunteers.

Volunteer / Committee Opportunity


Woodland Restoration Project, Volunteer Coordinator
January to July 2024 onwards

Do you love the woodland? We are looking for a Volunteer Coordinator to help organise our popular monthly volunteering sessions and to work with the Lewisham Council and local partners to help deliver some of the exciting mini-projects, like developing the Tree Trail content and organising school visits and a spring celebration event.

It would just need a few hours of your time as a volunteer every week (or whatever you can contribute) from now until the Summer. In return, you will gain valuable woodland and community management skills and make some lovely local friends!

Longer term, you would also have the opportunity to join our Committee and/or continue organising our monthly tree sessions beyond the summer if you would like.

Events

Boxing Day Walk, Tuesday 26 December, 11am-12noon
 
Join our Healthy Walks team and park volunteers for a festive community walk together around the park. Meet by the Frothy Coffee Hut, at 11am. Nearest entrance Whitefoot Lane. All age groups welcome. No need to book, it's free, just turn up.

 

Regular Activities


Sundays
Junior Park Run, 9.00-9.30 AM
A free, community event where children aged 4-14, and their families, can walk, jog, or run, 2km round Forster Park. If you don't feel like taking part you can volunteer or spectate. Parkrun is positive, welcoming and inclusive, there is no time limit and no one finishes last. Everyone is welcome to come along. Free to Join.

Tuesdays
Healthy Walks, 10.30-11.30am
Join this friendly walking group for a walk to and around Forster Park. Meet at Goldsmiths Community Centre SE6 1QD or 10.45 at the Long hill Road entrance to the park. No booking needed, just turn up. All are welcome!

Wednesdays
EarlyBird Bootcamp, 6.50-7.40am
Rise, shine, and get moving! Forget the morning coffee, roll out of bed, grab those trainers and meet us in Forster Park to press up, squat and burpee as the first rays of sunlight shine through the trees in the morning breeze! Mixed event, suitable for all. £8.50/session. Meet at the pavilion.

Fridays
Gardening Club, 10.30am-12.30pm
Meet at the Centenary Sensory Garden (top edge of the playing field). These are weekly Volunteer Gardening sessions.

Lewisham Lionhearts U12 and U14 football training, 9.30-11.30am

SportsFun4All football club

Cafe
The Frothy Coffee Hut is open daily from 10am-6pm daily, serving hot and cold drinks, food and ice creams. Table tennis bats available to borrow. Defibrillator now available in emergencies. @frothycoffeehut

Toilets
The toilets are open daily during cafe and park keeper hours in the Pavilion.

Accessibility: A key to the disabled toilet and baby change facilities is available - just ask any of the cafe staff for the key.
