Hi Sweet Friends,

In today's newsletter, I share some Christmas dessert recipes you'll enjoy making for your holiday table. I also published a new video to give you a detailed inside look at my bestselling book, The Modern Pioneer Cookbook.

I also have some sad family news.

It is with a heavy heart that I share with you that my wonderful mother, Gloria, returned to her eternal home last weekend, just shy of her 99th birthday. My mom was the most loving and kind woman I have ever known in my life, and I was honored to have her as my mother. She was the best mom in the whole wide world!

My mom was born in 1925 in New York and lived through the Great Depression of the 1930s and World War II. These two major life events left an indelible mark on my mom who grew up to master, as she often referred to them, the gentle arts of domesticity. My mom was a stellar homemaker who knew how to cook, clean, sew, iron, garden, and more! Nothing went to waste, and she was a master at making a meal from scraps. I was blessed to learn all these skills from my mom who was always so patient.

On New Year's Eve in 1954, my mom attended a neighborhood party where she met my dad, James. He was immediately smitten with my mom's beautiful, long black hair and sparkling blue eyes. They were engaged by March 1955 and had a June wedding later that year. My parents were blessed to have celebrated 61 years of marriage before my dad was called home to Heaven in 2016.

My mom and dad relocated to Texas in 1986, moving from New York. They were thrilled to embark on this exciting adventure and found they loved Texas and enjoyed living here.

My husband Ted, son Ben, and I were with my mom when she took her last breath, but she was completely at peace and ready to return to her eternal home. We now have an angel watching over us from Heaven.

We will miss my mom so much. Her beautiful smile, seeing her laugh at the funny jokes that Ted and Ben would tell her, watching her enjoy her "fancy coffee" on Sunday mornings after Mass, and hearing her sweet voice telling us that we were the best family in the whole wide world and that she loved us with all her heart. We are grateful now that she can rest in peace in the loving arms of Jesus, and we look forward to when we will all be reunited with her in Heaven.

❤️I love you, Mom, and I will miss you so much, but I know you are at peace now and watching over me, Ted, and Ben. We will love you forever, and we will all be united again one day. Rest in peace.❤️

Love and God Bless,
Mary
