Dear <<First Name>>,

Today I attended the topping off ceremony for the funding of expanded care at Burnaby Hospital. This includes the new patient care pavilion. It was an exciting announcement for all residents of Burnaby to continue to improve our access to healthcare.

As we celebrate this milestone in the redevelopment of Burnaby Hospital, I will continue to work hard with our government to ensure people have access to care in the community, which is critical.

Yesterday, I had a wonderful time at the BC Building Trades Holiday Open House with dear friends!

Thank you to BC Building Trades and various locals (IBEW 213 and UA Local 170) for sponsoring the Santa photo booth and desserts!

Here are some things I'd like to share with you from the past week:

B.C. improving services, wait times for tenants, landlords

Renters and landlords in B.C. are seeing faster and more efficient residential tenancy dispute resolutions thanks to government’s recent service improvements.

The actions we are taking will only continue to speed up service and increase user clarity as we work towards ensuring that renters and landlords can easily access the services they need.

Dispute resolution services at the Province’s Residential Tenancy Branch (RTB) have substantially improved in several ways over the last year.

We have a great deal of work underway in B.C. to help address the systemic issue of gender-based violence.

As many as 40 people, most of them immigrant women, have the opportunity to learn new skills or start new careers, benefiting young children, families and communities.

Through this training, people will get in-demand jobs, while local communities will be able to access more child care spaces.

Easier method coming for authenticating international documents

B.C. residents will soon have a quicker, less costly option to authenticate public documents for use in 125 countries, as a new method will launch in January 2024.

B.C. residents who need B.C. public documents authenticated for use in a country that is part of the convention will soon need to obtain only a single certificate, called an apostille, from the B.C. Authentication Program.

People with documents for member countries will no longer be required to send these documents to a consulate or embassy for the additional step of legalization.
