Private Lessons

As students begin to develop into musicians at the high school level, an important part of their training can be private instruction. Mr. Riler recommends private instruction for any student who has a desire to improve and perform on their instrument. 
 
Private instruction can be leveraged for students in any situation.  

• It can be for those who feel that they need help to get caught up
• It can be for those that need additional work to challenge them and prepare them to be able to be leaders in the high school ensemble
• It can be to develop skills like improvisation, mastering solo literature, etc
• It can be to develop skills to prepare for the next level as a music major or minor

If you are interested in starting lessons for your student musician but have questions, please feel free to contact Mr. Riler via email. Teachers with an asterisks by their name are those that Mr. Riler would highly recommend based on what he has witnessed, or in some cases, because of testimonials from other colleagues.

2025 Spring Trip

Registration for our 2025 Spring Trip to LA and Disneyland is open now through January 12th.  You won't want to miss out on this amazing experience!  Over 4 days and 3 nights you'll

This opportunity is open to members of any CHS band.  It's a great time of bonding and community building that your musician won't want to miss!  Be on the lookout for an in-person information session in the near future.

FOCB Meeting

Mark your calendars for Monday, January 8th at 6:30pm.  We'll be meeting in the band room.  Topics are likely to include fundraising for the 2025 Spring Trip and more!

Future Warrior Concert

The Future Warrior Concert is Wednesday, January 10th at 7:00 pm. Performances by: Concert Band and Jazz Ensemble, as well as Sellwood and Hosford advanced bands.

With the addition of a combined number at the end, Concert Band members must arrive by 6:10pm for a short rehearsal with the Sellwood and Hosford bands.

Pep Band Soon Approaches

Pep Band starts up on the first day of school after Winter Break.  Each student has been assigned to either the Green or Gold Pep Bands (see band assignments here). 

Students are welcome to perform at all games, but they must perform at the games their assigned pep band is scheduled to cover (see assigned games here) or work to find a replacement player on the same instrument.

Photo & Video Help Needed

Keeping up with CHS Bands' many events is no easy task, but many hands make light work!  With so many groups performing over the coming months, please capture photos and video and upload them to our Google Album (or send them and we'll upload). 

It's thrilling to see all the good times and great things the CHS Bands do throughout the year!
