SPC North Update
YARN Art Exhibition and Pride March
SPC sponsored the Youth At Risk Network who hosted a Strategy Launch with the State Government that focused on supporting vulnerable young people. The exhibition ran for two weeks with 50 people attending opening night. The opening night also had a expo of services that people could interact with. The Think Mental Health message and RightByYou were promoted.
YARN provided a opportunity for young people and services to participate in the Pride March in November. A number of youth took part and had a amazing time. There was a event prior where participants could decorate signs and banners.
Partnership with Pharmacy 777 Nollamara
SPC has continued its collaboration with the amazing counselling team at Nollamara Pharmacy 777.
There was a Christmas morning tea on 19th December. The Christmas event was well attended by the community, helped build connections and gave advice on what supports are available over the festive period.
During the school holiday period SPC supported a number of Art Therapy workshops targeting children and adults. The sessions support eight young people at a time. The sessions are featured in the West Australian newspaper School Holiday guide. They have proved to be so successful that SPC has supported additional sessions on top of the already sponsored January 2024 sessions.
In Mental Health Week SPC supported a Walk and Connect event that was well attended. People met people from the community and learnt some information on benefits of movement for mental health as well as what services could provide support in the community.
RightByYou stall
SPC held a RightByYou Stall at Peter Moyes School mental health exhibition day, where over 300 students attended from year 8-12. This also included 5 RightByYou workshops throughout the day, which was co-facilitated with one of our new RightByYou Youth Ambassadors, Aimee.
