RightByYou Update

www.rightbyyou.org.au reached a massive milestone reaching 10,000 individual visits in November with 44,000 pages visited. This is a great effort and shows the website awareness is growing. On average for the past 3 months, 40 people per day are using the website. The team have been promoting the website on Snap Chat, TikTok and Instagram since October. New material focused on the holidays will be released soon.

SPC is teaming up with Anglicare to promote mental health at Karrinyup Shopping Centre starting on December 18. You will be able to see the below banner in two locations in December and January. The banners will promote the RightByYou website to encourage young shoppers to look out for their friends over the holiday period.

We’ve had the chance to interview several young people interested in becoming RBY Youth Ambassadors. Having the ambassadors will allow us to be at more schools, and ensure we still have the youth lived-experience approach in informing young people in Perth about digital suicide prevention. We’ve already had one come co-facilitate a workshop and stall with us and look forward to the others becoming more engaged next year.

Wellness Wednesday
In celebration of mental week, we supported Mandurah’s inaugural Wellness Wednesday by hosting a stall. This event supports mental health awareness by inviting the community to find out about the myriad of services available for mental health related support in the Mandurah area.

Wontons for Wellbeing
In collaboration with Neami’s Community Engagement Officer - Alana, Neami held an event Wontons For Wellbeing in Fremantle. Our aim was to engage with community and share what they can do to focus on their own wellbeing and what activities and services are available in the Freo area to support this. It was a wonderful day, and the community enjoyed the free wontons made by Bumplings.

Kambarang Day
Neami SPC supported the fourth Connect to Culture Day for Aboriginal children in care through our work with Imagined Futures. Over 40 young people in care and their carers attended the event, with Neami sharing mental health resources with carers.

YARN Art Exhibition and Pride March
SPC sponsored the Youth At Risk Network who hosted a Strategy Launch with the State Government that focused on supporting vulnerable young people. The exhibition ran for two weeks with 50 people attending opening night. The opening night also had a expo of services that people could interact with. The Think Mental Health message and RightByYou were promoted.
YARN provided a opportunity for young people and services to participate in the Pride March in November. A number of youth took part and had a amazing time. There was a event prior where participants could decorate signs and banners.

Partnership  with Pharmacy 777 Nollamara
SPC has continued its collaboration with the amazing counselling team at Nollamara Pharmacy 777.

There was a Christmas morning tea on 19th December. The Christmas event was well attended by the community, helped build connections and gave advice on what supports are available over the festive period.

During the school holiday period SPC supported a number of Art Therapy workshops targeting children and adults. The sessions support eight young people at a time. The sessions are featured in the West Australian newspaper School Holiday guide. They have proved to be so successful that SPC has supported additional sessions on top of the already sponsored January 2024 sessions.

In Mental Health Week SPC supported a Walk and Connect event that was well attended. People met people from the community and learnt some information on benefits of movement for mental health as well as what services could provide support in the community.

RightByYou stall
SPC held a RightByYou Stall at Peter Moyes School mental health exhibition day, where over 300 students attended from year 8-12. This also included 5 RightByYou workshops throughout the day, which was co-facilitated with one of our new RightByYou Youth Ambassadors, Aimee.
