Auxiliary Bishop Frank Schuster Appointed Chair
of the Boards of Trustees for Catholic Community Services and Catholic Housing Services of Western Washington,
and the Catholic Charities Foundation

SEATTLE – Dec. 20, 2023 – Today, Bishop Frank Schuster, the auxiliary bishop for the Archdiocese of Seattle and former pastor of St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Federal Way was appointed the Archbishop’s Representative and Chair of the Boards of Trustees for Catholic Community Services and Catholic Housing Services of Western Washington, and the Catholic Charities Foundation.

“Caring for the vulnerable among us and treating them with the dignity they deserve is something I am very passionate about,” said Bishop Schuster, who serves as the regional bishop to the southern area of the Archdiocese of Seattle. “Growing up here, I have seen the pain, suffering and challenges that many face across the region – as well as the tremendous work that CCS/CHS does in service of these brothers and sisters of ours. CCS/CHS acts as the hands and feet of Jesus Christ today, and I am incredibly honored to be part of the board.”

Bishop Schuster is a graduate of Kennedy Catholic High School and the University of Washington. He was ordained a priest in Seattle in 1999 and became a bishop in 2022.

“We are blessed to have Bishop Schuster join our leadership team and provide his guidance and formation while helping us demonstrate that the love and care we provide is a clear reflection of our Catholic faith,” said Michael Reichert, CEO of Catholic Community Services and Catholic Housing Services. “The challenges in our community are great, and we simply cannot turn a blind eye. Instead, following in the footsteps of Christ, we are challenged each and every day to respond with compassionate action, advocacy and a deep respect for everyone we encounter – understanding that they reflect God’s love and provide us with his grace. We are grateful to Archbishop Paul Etienne for inviting and appointing Bishop Schuster to be the Chair of our Boards of Trustees.”
