The Idaho Foodbank Warehouse Closure Calendar
Below is a calendar of when our warehouses will be closed this year. During warehouse closures, there will be no pick-ups or deliveries scheduled on these days. We hope this will help you make arrangements during these closures. There might be some special circumstances that require us to be closed on dates that are not listed. If this happens, we will send out an email letting you know.  If you have any questions, please contact your partner representative at The Idaho Foodbank.

NEFPAT (Nutrition Environment Food Pantry Assessment Tool) and Nudge Toolkit
Need Additional Food Pantry Support? Check out our NEFPAT (Nutrition Environment Food Pantry Assessment Tool) and Nudge Toolkit! This is a simple checklist that helps support different aspects of a food pantry such as food distribution styles, pantry layout, promotion techniques for healthy foods, and variety of fruits and vegetables available. Our Nudge Toolkit includes “shelf-talkers”, which are small signs that help point out nutritious food that is available in your pantry.

If your pantry is interested, there is no cost. The Idaho Foodbank will mail these materials to you. We want to help make the healthy choice the easy choice! If interested or for more information, please contact your partner specialist.

Partner Highlight

BSU Nursing Students with Community Ministries and El Ada Boise and Garden City.
For the last couple of years, BSU Nursing Students have been partnering with some of our food pantries for their service-learning projects that they do for one semester. This is a way for these Nursing Students to gain experience around food insecurity and healthcare, as well as learn more about the community. Nine students teamed up with Community Ministries and EL Ada Boise and Garden City to help neighbors in need improve their health and nutrition.

During their experience at the pantries, they work on implementing components of NUDGE. Nudge is a program that encourages neighbors to make healthier food choices based on availability and nutritional education. The work done by the students included a recipe card display with items a person can receive from the food pantry, nutrition education handouts, and nutritional displays.

It has been a great experience for the BSU Nursing students, our pantry partners they have worked with directly, and for us here at The Idaho Foodbank. We appreciate all the work that is done for the community. Thank you!
