POP-UP HANAMI VOLUNTEER APPLICATIONS
We want YOU to volunteer for Pop-Up Hanami!

As March rapidly approaches, so does Pop-Up Hanami. Inspired by the sakura trees scattered around the UBC Campus and the Japanese tradition of Hanami (花見) or "Flower Viewing", UBCAni is excited to continue this yearly tradition in 2024, and to do so we need your help!
Pop-Up Hanami will take place on March 23rd in the UBC AMS Nest! Pop-Up Hanami includes:
- A Cosplay Cafe
- An Artist Alley
- Live Performances
- Games, Prizes, and Raffles!
In an attempt to not spoil as much as possible, know that Pop-Up Hanami will be bigger and better than before! To make this event possible, we need volunteers! See below for the list of volunteer teams, and if volunteering at Hanami interests you, if you want to be a part of the behind-the-scenes work that goes into making an event like this possible, apply today!

We need YOU! To volunteer for Pop-Up Hanami 2024 and help us make it a bigger and better event than last year!
Are you a helpful, energetic, hands-on kind of person? Then you should be part of our volunteer team for the '24 rendition of Pop-Up Hanami!
This year's roles entail:
General Volunteers:
Setup & Takedown
Decorations
Runners
Registration Team:
Checking in Attendees
Selling tickets at door
Info Booth & Raffle Team:
Answering attendee questions
Handling raffle ticketing
Processing cosplay weapon props
Handling communications
Security Team
Stage Hands (will require light training ahead of the event)
Set up stage equipment (mixers, lights, speakers, cabling)
Runners/liaison between stage team and performers
General stage hand duties
Activity booths
Monitor and run the activities and game booths in the free-activity area
We will contact you via Discord to confirm your volunteer role by FEBRUARY 17th, 2024. Please set your Discord settings to allow for direct messages from server members so that we can contact you.
Additional info:
- You will not need to buy a ticket if you are selected as a volunteer. Please do not buy a ticket until we have confirmed whether or not you are volunteering, as we are unable to issue refunds on ticket sales.
- You are not expected to cosplay but please feel free to do so!

Cafe Volunteers
We've got food, we've got drinks, we've got cosplay
|

Cafe Servers Team
If being a cosplay server for a fully functioning cosplay cafe sounds interesting to you, then look no further than the Servers team!
As a server for the cosplay cafe, you'll be responsible for collecting orders from guests, delivering orders of food and beverage, and of course, showing off your cosplay! Experience working in restaurants and cafes is not required! We'll go through all the steps and procedures during orientation meetings to make sure the day of the event goes without a hitch!

Cafe Food Team
Do YOU want to help create all the delicious food that are at the heart of our cosplay cafe? The food team works closely with the drinks and servers team to create the overarching experience of the cafe at Pop-Up Hanami!
As volunteers for the food team, you'll play a key role in the beautiful presentation and safe delivery of our menu items! Prior experience working in kitchens is not required! The steps and procedures involved in working as a volunteer for the food team will all be gone over during the orientation meetings!

Cafe Drinks Team
Do you want to be a part of the decision-making and planning process behind the drinks served at our wonderful cosplay cafe? Do you want to shout 'yes chef!' every time an order comes through the terminal? The drinks team is the place for you!
Prior experience working in restaurants is not required! You'll be crafting the beautiful drinks that stole the show with names such as "Bocchi on the rocks"!
