The International Camp Directors Course (ICDC) has been developed as a professional development course for camp managers, directors and operators. It is equally valuable for any experienced camp staff professional.

This intensive five day course addresses all aspects of Camp Management in an interactive exchange environment with other members of the camping and outdoor community and builds on skills and learning of both faculty and participants.

The curriculum was originally developed by a team of camp professionals in North America but has been expanded to encompass the broadest range of camping and outdoor experiences in all countries. The curriculum has been reviewed and revised over the years and, in some cases, has also been adapted to local, national or regional situations and standards, making it a valuable professional development tool for local needs and a bridge to camping at the international level.

All courses are approved and administered by the International Camping Fellowship (ICF) using both local and international ICDC Trainers.

Course Goals

Goal 1 – To present the basics of camp management in the core areas of the organized body of knowledge
Goal 2 – To expand their network of peers and develop a community of professionals in a “camp like” atmosphere
Goal 3 – To provide an introduction to self-directed learning and the participants’ role in their own professional development process

The course curriculum includes a broad range of camp management topics.

  • Vision and camp business sustainability

  • Accommodation – fire systems and essential services

Sunshine Fund Livestream

From Dana’s Desk

As you begin to plan/develop your camp registration, our Sunshine Fund application process also opens. On Wednesday, Jan 17th at 10:30 am, I will be hosting through Zoom an information session to talk about the Sunshine Fund application process and how it coincides with your camp registration process.

What’s the information session about?

I will explain how the Sunshine Fund application works on our end and how we work with camps through the spring and summer ensuring that camp costs are covered for the low income families in Manitoba.

Who should attend the information session on Jan.17th?

All are invited, however this session is geared towards the registrars. Also, if you are new to your camp, or are responsible for the accounting/financials, it would be very helpful to attend.

How long is this session?

The overview of the process will take about 30 minutes, with a question and answer period to follow. You can always contact me at any time if you have questions.

What do you need to do to prepare for this session?

Two documents will be sent out along with the Zoom invite. These documents are for your reference. I will share my screen in case you do not have a chance to review them prior to the Zoom.

I look forward to seeing you next week
